News Beyond - Chapter Four Livestream - Beta Blowout

Didn't they wanted to implement something to faster travel to planets? Like SC jumps or something?
You have 60 minutes to get to Hutton Orbital and you start at the star! Go!

Or show us how the Guardian modules are unlocked, without a relog fest.

That'd be QoL improvements.

None of that rings any bells I'm afraid. Faster travel to planets & SC jumps have not been mentioned by the Devs AFAIK.

The Hutton run takes around 90 minutes and has become infamous because it is so far. There are a couple of rare commodities but functionally it is just another distant outpost, some take longer to reach than others and this one is both distant and really close.

I haven't done any Guardian unlocks at all, you don't have to either. But if you want the gear, put the effort in without relogging and face the dilemma. Sure it probably is a chore, but like tidying your room, you can just not do it and accept the consequence of your decision :)

Very much this.^^

I find the high jinks type streams very irritating, especially when there's much that could be elucidated and clarified regarding what's been shown in the beta. (This is my feedback to Ed & Co)

Irritating is too strong a word for me, but it certainly makes it irrelevant. Either I am watching FD employees provide info on the game they are working on, or I am watching two dudes who happen to work for FD play a video game poorly. The first is interesting to me, the second ain't. Then again, I never got the deal about Twitch either, so I guess I am just not the target audience for these kind of streams. :)

Micro-jumps to binary stars have been mentioned a number of times. Nothing solid, and definitely no ETA.

For me, micro-jumps wipe a lot of the game out of existence.

I'd much prefer improved modules/engineering/ships which give better supercruise performance (faster acceleration/deceleration/increased drop distances or drop speeds etc.)

I'm aware of the pre-supercruise stuff, and of course the community asks for all sorts of things including jumping to secondary stars in a system. Are you able to reference anything from FDev about SC jumps? I presume 'faster travel to planets' is not about the glide transition but just another way of saying 'make SC travel faster'.

I've contributed to quite a number of suggestion threads on this topic, I don't recall ever seeing a Dev post in one.

Intriguing!

Ed just posted this on twitter ...

"Hello all! We're going to be mining in the Iota Hydri system in Open in the beta tonight. Come mining with us!
Also - we've got a teensy bit of new beta stuff to talk to you about, too!"

Cue 4800 viewers all shouting 'just tell us the things!' and another 200 actually interested in mining saying 'you're doing it wrong!'

;)

Oh God, that's playing with fire.

They probably mean: "we've tweaked the controls in Beta 3.3".
Everyone else is thinking: "PANTHER CLIPPER! SPACE LEGS! ATMOSPHERIC WORLDZZZZZ!!!!!"

Heh, I am going to assume it is a teensy bit of new beta stuff. :p Some balancing, maybe mentioning of some bug fixes, that kind of stuff.

Thargoid incursion BGS state? Finally! I mean I'm not a combat player, but that should be a very nice improvement for those who love killing Thargoids.

And Thargoid CZ's? Nice.

Thargoid combat zones too? If I weren't a complete chicken, I'd be impressed. :)

(Did they mention there would be more dangerous interceptors too?)

I am whelmed by even more Thargoid stuff. It's all decent ideas that for me break down where you need gimmick loadouts to participate - hull tanks, AX and Guardian weapons etc. I've got my perfectly fine engineered lasers, plasma accelerators, bi-weave shields, and now I am somehow "doing it wrong" for the most prominent combat content in the game. The irony or tragedy is that when the engineers were added, many people anticipated that you will need an engineered ship to fight the Thargoids; then when the time came, it turned out no, you need to unlock all new different weapons instead of using the stuff you also engineered, you need entirely different loadouts from that which you engineered. Thanks but no thanks.

I know where you are coming from - the Thargoids just put another parallel layer of progression on top, rather than complementing what we had (and then introducing a bit more specialised gear on top to allow humanity to turn the tide).

Couldn’t agree more. Defending human space from the Thargoid menace should be the uniting combat experience that gets the entire community together but instead it’s a niche activity locked behind arbitrary grind that is utterly useless for any other part of the gameplay. It’s ridiculous that they wasted such a prominent piece of lore and a story telling opportunity in that way.
