sorry if this is a silly question but how do you know when you can download the beta? coming from ps4 so never had a beta to try

In the launcher (at the bottom) you can select which version of the game you wish to start. Beta will be an option in that list.
It shows as an option in the launcher.
And mind there are two Betas, one for Horizons and one for the base game. Almost clicked the wrong option

Thank you, kind Person! After your post I've checked and actually have been downloading the wrong one - in my anticipation of Beta I didn't even look at what I'm clicking
