BGS exploration data level cap?

No you do not explain it you simply state that there is "invisible honking data" several times to contradict or belittle another persons contribution to a post. There is no explanation about how it is generated where it is cashed in or what it's actual use or existence is for. I have even gone through my player logs and cannot find any ref to data exploration data other than that which I have been paid for and has contributed towards my exploration rank.

Bottom line is , know where in the forums does it say that exploration data size being sold is judged on population size.

No where on the entire internet does FD say, exploration data size being sold is judged on population size.

Until FD come out and confirm what is correct and what is not. Then it remains another one of those Elite Dangerous Myths.

And on that note i say good night and safe flight Commanders.

I'll see if I can jump in with a question next time Dav Stott is on a live stream - he often dodges questions, but may answer one about population size....

You are aware that the one area of the game that FD make a point of not being specific about is the bgs, right? Because the first rule of the bgs is you have to work it out for yourself, and always has been.
So if you're waiting for a definitive answer from FD you'd better have the patience of a patient person who's got an extra special reason to be patient.

What is invisible honking data ........ ? First discovery bonus?
Apparently it's some magical hidden data value that affects faction influence, and has nothing to do with the cash that you're awarded when you sell the data at a station.
It seems to be something akin to Fairy Dust or possibly Ground Unicorn Horn.

Big system -Lots.
Small system - Not lots.

(Subject to all the other effects and out of date reference sources and come 3.0 it’ll all change again)
All the size of the system effects is how much movement you can get, absolutely not the amount of data you have to sell to get that amount, with the slight proviso that larger systems probably have more traffic and therefore more random background noise - in which case selling more will indeed get you closer to the cap. This we are as close to certain of as you can be with a black box and can accurately predict influence changes when moving multiple bgs "levers" by small and large amounts.

Don't ever listen but with a healthy dose of skepticism about what FD says about the BGS, as historically, even their detailed explanations have been ... not entirely correct.

FD doesn't really give a manual about how the BGS works. Never has. What knowledge exists is collected by the BGS player community based on observed data. Many of this comes from groups that have been doing this for years, and have data going back years.

AEDC, too, confirms that population size is a big factor in effort required for influence gained.

Meanwhile, you're not seeing the gems of truth in the posts replying to you. Which is a shame.

The BGS is and will be a black box. We will never have 100% certainty on many things.

But that is what makes it so much more intriguing. If we'd know everything down to the last bit it would become a terrible bore.

The most open fd have been about the bgs are the early forum posts by michael brookes that were famously ambiguous. The jan 2016 forum post and the 2x bgs livestreams.

Almost everything else is observation and experience. Thats part of the challenge and fun of working the bgs. The problem is that attempting to retro engineer its workings often leads us downs false paths based on flawed or incorrect assumptions.

It also changes, sometimes without notice. As the recent education on murder mechanics reminded me yet again!

There is a reason hamsters feature large in bgs discussions. Sometimes we are hamsters in fds bgs maze.
