BGS is literally on fire

Can confirm....Yikes!
Literal 30% swings last night

Edit - LHS 317

Anyone have any idea how some systems are updated in EDSM and Inara?
I usually use ED Discovery but it seems it's not updating.
The sites need to know what version of the game - Legacy or Live - your data is from. (And most are taking the decision to only support Live, but even those who support both will need to know which is which)

Because we only found out about this change very late, only the latest versions of the desktop clients support the "gameversion" parameter in what they send - that's EDMC 5.6 and EDDiscovery 16. If you haven't upgraded yet and want to keep sending data, you need to upgrade (which will also in the case of EDDiscovery stop your Live and Legacy CMDR data getting mixed up locally)

Favour time. Can anyone who has a big single system swing like this post a link to the Inara page for that system showing it so we can collate evidence for Frontier to investigate?

I really wouldn't want to play the BGS in legacy, especially when many 3rd party tools already decided not supporting it.
I need to look into checking if one of them would be willing to share a copy of their backend for hosting a legacy mirror.

I updated my EDDiscovery to 16 a few hours back, but it's still not updating...
I checked the settings and they seem to be fine as they were updating in the old version during pre-U14.
Do you have any clue of why?

A few examples of the bigger swings from out my way:
Colonia: https://cdb.sotl.org.uk/systems/1/history?minrange=3308-11-01&maxrange=3308-12-01
Ogmar: https://cdb.sotl.org.uk/systems/5/history?minrange=3308-11-01&maxrange=3308-12-01
Coeus: https://cdb.sotl.org.uk/systems/58/history?minrange=3308-11-01&maxrange=3308-12-01
Luchtaine: https://cdb.sotl.org.uk/systems/62/history?minrange=3308-11-01&maxrange=3308-12-01

As with the others, all are large drops for the controlling faction and large rises mostly applying to one other non-control faction, none cause conflict locks on crossover (though Colonia's wouldn't anyway, of course)

Inara was holding off on taking updates directly until they'd had a couple of days to verify. Updates sent via EDDN for basic system data like influence, markets, etc. should still go through, though: are those also down?

Check the "Log" tab to see if there's any useful messages there, and then contact the EDDiscovery maintainers if you still can't figure it out, I think.

Hello!!
Just jumping in to show acknowledgement! Looking into this o7
Thanks in advance! Hope it'll be solved , and we'll not have the 2nd week of BGS madness, the 1st week was after carrier patch. I understand, that the solution may be complex, but hope, that ut'll be solved faster, than 1st case

Yes, I got errors in EDD when it attempted to send to EDSM - something about an app version. EDD seems to be up-to-date though.

No reports of Inara issues through EDD.

I'll have a poke around.

We have a single day of BGS with these swings and lack of conflict locks, and already some of these systems will take more than a week of work to return where they were before. It's really scary if this doesn't get fixed ASAP...

Some says something is wrong with the donation missions. Most of the weirdly affected systems are a center of hardcore BGS players actions, and average traffic is rarely picking these type of missions.

Also in the checked systems only the economy bars are showing a blue arrow, but not the security.

Interesting idea, but doesn't match up with what I'm seeing in Colonia: the big swings are in some (but not quite all) of the high-general-traffic systems where background activity normally massively dominates over deliberate influence movement. I wondered if it had been "high general traffic suddenly becomes low general traffic as players are left behind in Legacy", which could cause instability ... but where I've checked so far the traffic reports are within normal pre-U14 ranges: whatever has been lost to Legacy has been compensated at least for now by more players in general checking out the update.

And generally the boost goes mostly or entirely to a single secondary faction, which it's hard to come up with either a deliberate or accidental mechanism for: passing traffic could do that by station-owner bias but some of this is happening in systems where station ownership is fully consolidated for the big ones and mostly consolidated for the Odyssey ones ... deliberate action could do it but the boosted faction isn't one that's shown any signs of previous support before.

I wondered about exobio payouts going haywire somehow now that they were suddenly popular ... but can't see how that would cause an A->B transfer of influence: it should help the controlling faction; if it somehow acts negative for them it should boost all of the others not just a random one.

Ah well, hopefully Frontier with access to the actual data can do better :)

There does also appear to be a significant increase in the "split" applied when a war or election completes - more like +/-8 than +/-4 - which is causing some larger swings, but that seems unrelated: plenty of examples of affected systems which haven't had a secondary-secondary conflict complete recently.
