Got to a system, did the honk, says there are planets but nothing showed on the system map, done the scan etc, nothing says "discovered by..."
Did I just find a system?

It's likely the carrier issue is down to competing commanders operating from the same carrier.First home gets the bacon.Depends. If you sell on a carrier, there are people reporting that they don't get the tag or the notification (I'm not sure which one they're talking about). If you sell at a station, you will get a popup telling you that you were the first discoverer of system xyz.
That only means you're going to visit more systems per given distance.Well I started by seeing how far up I could go (there was still loads more above me), but then unlike you lot with your 100ly jump ranges, I'm attempting to explore with my Viper mk4 and a 22ly range
4. Cmdr Validating gets there first. There are 3 things that could stop you getting your name in the discovered by box.
- Your ship gets destroyed before you sell the data and all the Astro survey data is lost.
- Someone has already discovered the system, or (sometimes from hints in threads like this) finds the system after you did and sells the data before you can.
- A bug like the one mentioned in an earlier post.
yes have seen that name a few times. Is he known to steal or just a prolific explorer?4. Cmdr Validating gets there first.
Possibly prolific but more likely a bug. Search the forums. There's evidence of "him/her" everywhere.yes have seen that name a few times. Is he known to steal or just a prolific explorer?

Try it on XBox?
Check who 'liked' the post if you need a more authoritative answerFrom what I recall, 'Validating' is what's displayed as a default if it can't determine the real CMDR name for any reason. Way back when it was showing up a lot before I think Frontier said it was because console and PC CMDR names hadn't been properly synced up - no idea if that's what's causing the current ones or if it's something else.
