"Blockade" of Dav's Hope

This person destroyed my DBX three times today, when I tried to collect some materials at Dav's Hope. Without provocation. As my DBX was set up for exploration only, it didn't even have shields or weapons. He later sent me a message saying the "blockade is over for today and I that I can use the Dav's Hope".

I was just wondering is this type of behaviour sanctioned by the FDEVS and Game Community?

It's pretty lame if you ask me.

Whenever you approach anything that could be a hotspot in Open and on a Planet surface, this is what I recommend :
  • always have Network Bandwidth display running (immediately know if you're alone or not)
  • don't ever directly approach your Target (i.e. Dav's Hope), but aim to end up some 20km away from it
  • monitor Bandwidth and if not alone, observe for a MInute from a safe distance (Visually, looking for suspicious movements or Weapon discharges)
  • if the LZ is "hot", land and dismiss the Ship 15km away and approach in a disposable SRV if desired
  • if a "pristine" Instance is required, though, that's about the time one has to switch to Solo/PG (otherwise there might not be any Mats left on the Ground or i.e. a Guardian Site can't be utilized i.e. to get a Blueprint because the Data Link was already activated once)
  • even if alone and all is good... remember this can change rapidly. Dismiss the Ship ASAP after landing if feasible or be ready to do so very rapidly (the Hotkey to Recall the Ship is btw. also the same to dismiss it, so it can be done on a moment's notice if required).

It's pretty lame indeed, aswell as reloging to collect mats, but each have different approaches, and circumstances. That's open play for you.
Some people just have that nature, of creating frustration and being "little pests" to others weaker than them.
Some of them can even be "git guders" at creating salt out of thin air, while me, I just "git guded" at playing solo while collecting mats and farming basic stuff.
Just go to solo, and forget that it happened.
Shhhh and you can also block those kind of awesomely wonderful players.

I’m normally an open all the time kind of person and generally get on fine with gankers who I sometimes fight and sometimes simply escape from. However, why do Dav’s hope in open? You get instanced with other people which can screw your ability to collect all the mats. Not only that but you’re constantly relogging anyway so there’s no point in being in open.

Based on what you said though there was provocation, at least from his perspective. Material gathering at Dav's Hope provoked him. Sorry but we can't have a situation where people call other players out because they aren't role-playing the same campaign.

There are two modes where you will never have that problem, just use one of them if it matters so much that you go material farming.

Never thought of the bandwidth "trick" before. Will break "immersion" a bit but as a pretty paranoid cmdr at the best of times, I can see an occasional use for this, interesting.
Thank you. (y)

If you REALLY dont wanna be blown up, play in Solo. I played in Solo for a looooong time until I got enough money built up so that now I dont really care if someone ganks me. It might even be fun to either try to outrun them or fight back. Hell, I sometimes sit in Deciat myself & interdict people heading to see Farseer :)

With that being said, I make sure I always mine in Solo. Its boring as hell & I hate doing it with the limited amount of playtime I get, so I'll be damned if I'm gonna lose 2-3 hours of playtime just cause someone wants to blow up a defenseless mining ship.
