Blocking feature being abused or was it intended to be this way? FDEV?

Read what I wrote more carefully. People can play however they like, and if that includes hiding behind an abused system like the Block feature and therefore denying themselves the full range of experience that Open provides for then good for them. But StevieG and his peeps had grand plans for the PvP League this early summer, and you can't Block your way to victory there I'm afraid.

@Stevie....sure man, sure. Really looked like it:)

Please stop its too funny. I can support players blocking idiots. It doesnt mean I or Delta blocks them :) no matter how many times you say it :)

Why there are still discussions about Open PvE?
It will not happen because it doesn't make any sense while having private and solo modes.
Some Commanders pretend to be brave - hey, i play in open and it's so safe and i'm a dangerous Commander - i block you instantly - now fear me? Didn't get it :D

The One-Click-Remove-Threat mentality is annoying somehow.
Play Open the way it's designed or not, simple no?

:D

Thought you rage quit the other week? Certainly made enough noise about it at the time asking mods to delete yer account on the main forum. All better now then I see ^

it's tailor your own experience. i don't have a blocklist because am more often in pg - but i don't see even a tentative problem with blocking something purely meta, with no ingame rationale, like alien site campers or station rammers.

Was it a public sandbox?
Back in kiddy times, we worked together and teached ratbags a lesson by ourself without the need of a third party ;) So we all could play together in peace.

Plot twist:

At first the owner of the public sandbox thought : "Oh well, kids will be kids! The problem will sort itself out by itself." So he did nothing, and tried telling the other kids to "Gang up against those two and push them away."

At first, the bigger group of kids tried. But they found that the more they tried, the more unruly kids arrived, and the less time they had to build their sandcastles and play together peacefully. They also found that trying to push the unruly kids out of the sandbox only seemed to encourage the unruly kids, which turned the sandbox from a happy place into a bit of a permanent warzone, which took up all the time the majority of the kids, and none of them could build their sandcastles or play other game with each other at all.

The owner, seeing all this, shook their head, realised doing nothing wasn't solving the problem, and took steps to help the majority of the kids play happily again.

I had a dream

A dream that all CMDRs from all areas of the game can play together in Open

Come with me on this journey

and lets make Open great again!

How about this for an example, an Idea if you will for an OP...

1. Kill sidewinders/new players.
2. Block anyone who intends to stop us.

Working. As. Intended.

Thoughts?

Y'know mate it'd be quite refreshing if you stopped treating the game like it's CQC Galaxy Arena - just sayin'

I think some of the issues some users are having is that upon mass blocking of a player you will find instancing begins to break down more than normal, instances where you would be able to drop into an existing fight turn into you dropping into nothing or the tunnel, while the block feature is not 100% I don't believe the dev intended it to be used as a means to prevent instancing, but if they did I can only assume they did not consider the effect of such a feature on an already fragile instancing system.

Yo have not evidence for this whatsoever, it's pure conjecture.

Yep, pretty much. And they, in turn, will learn to block you. And slowly but surely the only players you'll be killing will be your fellow Sidey killers and the new Sideys that don't know about the block list yet.

Working. As. Intended. Indeed.

I used to be a pirate... combat logging changed that. if it was fixed, I pirate I would be.

you are probably already doing that though.

Oddly enough there is only 1 player I know that does this... very bad at PVP too.

Sidewinder/new players block you.

Working. As. Intended.

:D

New players don't spawn with players blocked...
