Just seems insane to play a pvp game in pvp mode, then get salty when you get pvp'ed. It's a contradiction in terms, especially when you don't even have to play in pvp mode to play cooperatively with friends, or even with another player visible in the whole galaxy. Like I say though, if you can only block people you have encountered in game, I have less of an issue with it, but it's still mad to be able to play in PVP and block players who want to PVP with you.
Thats a cool argument, but theres one tiny little detail...this is not a pvp game. Its an open sandpit where pvp is possible, but its not a pvp game.
Point note...Im on a certain kill on sight list on reddit...even though I never ever pvp and been in solo fer over a year. So...am I permitted to block them if they cant give me a good reason as to why my name is there? Why would I wanna play in open when there are groups who compile KOS lists with my name on it fer absolutely no reason whatsoever? Why should I allow them to dictate what mode I play in?
Ive only relatively recently started playing in open only and all Im hearing is about how dead open is because of the pvp kill em all mentality. Apart from all of a few dozen players who consider open mode to be their mode and their mode only, why should anyone have the option of fun and social open play barred to them because of a few morons?
The block function is a compromise to full on pve mode...it allows one to block the most toxic and aggressive and make open play a little more tolerable. Tbh Im just not seeing how thats a bad thing...is open so heavily populated that pvprs can pick and choose? Must be literally bursting with players to listen to some here who seem to be doing everything they can to empty it.
I gotta say, that mentality is a part of the reason why open has become so toxic...because its players like that who make it toxic. Far as Im concerned, nobody has the right to dictate how or where others play, and those who try should have even less rights. Thats why the karma system cant come soon enough fer many and why many realize it wont stop the toxicity, but it certainly wont make things worse either...until then, we have the block function fer the worst of the worst who appear to genuinely believe that open literally belongs to them and them alone.
Newsflash guys...it doesnt ^
