Blocking feature being abused or was it intended to be this way? FDEV?

Oh wow, that's pretty twisted. So having friends is bad now?

I didn't say having friends was bad at all, I merely posed a hypothetical scenario that is no less unrealistic than the hypothetical scenario of blocking everyone who kills you. The friends list overrides the block list, as was also established at the start of this thread.

Obtuse behavior, or an attempt at comedy? You decide...

It's about what a Friends list does/could do to instancing, not what having friends does.

You say that like either or both is a bad thing, but I've perfected being comically obtuse to an ART form my friend!

I can only hope your intended audience gets it. I would respect an attempt at humor, over the other choice. But, I'm betting that would gain very little traction with you.

Jason, apparently your friends are excrement if they "group up in PvP fit ships to explode people for-the-lulz"
:x

And these same losers can be found all over the net whining about not being able to find any other "players" in OPEN! ;)

That's ridiculous. There are loads of people playing in Open. Why, last night it only took me about ten minutes to fly in my Asp to the latest CG and get blown up by a wing of gankers. The weird part is they were all on my "friends" list, go figure. Is that why the system seemed so populated? Food for thought.

@MarkAusten, you can fight it all you like, but in the end I will win you over. You'll hate yourself every time you laugh at one of my jokes, but you will laugh.

That's because it's Open. You shouldn't be prevented from finding prey in Open, because it's Open. Simple really. That's exactly the problem with Block. Acting or not like an A-hole is all good. It's intended to belong in the game. Making it so a Murder Hobo can't find anything to kill in Open is a paradox. Why is it Open anyway??

"blocked player top 10" OMG that's hilarious

By the same token though, I reserve the right to choose who I play with and who I don't. Acting like an A-hole is NOT 'all good' and not acceptable. Period. Open may not prevent people from behaving like that, but that doesn't mean other players have to tolerate it.....in ANY play mode.

If you and your "friends" think that ganging up on a single lower skilled player is acceptable behavior in this game, then you all totally belong on that Top 10. ;)

Outside of your warped alternate universe, we consider that type of behavior grounds for more than simply blocking, we will also be reporting you to FDEV along with video evidence. ;)

Another one who thinks the sole point of Elite is to be CQC Galaxy. I mean, never mind the rest of the content Frontier bung into the game. Nah.

"I want to hunt prey. All the time."

"I should be allowed to hunt anyone, anywhere."

Awesome.

As long as it's not a newbie getting in grips with the game, what's the difference between exploding a Trader solo or with company? "Not fair"? Come on. "against EULA"? What are you going to report, if you pushed the Open button?

Just thought I would clue you in on what most players consider acceptable. It should make the game ban that is likely coming your way a little less of a surprise. :)

Please.... claims at humor, particularly the kind ridiculing opponents for not getting one's humor are often suspect for diverting attention from their failings of arguments.

If I supposedly wanted to Pirate. Let's say that.

Don't I have to farm cr the same way everybody does? Don't I have to Engineer modules the same way everybody does? Where do you think that Cutter came from?

"Bad guys" do as much on this game as any. In some cases, more: they teach piloting, they open schools, they provide fitting counsel, they provide YouTube content. Most of all, they spread the Game.

That's some disrespect right there.

Keep on believing in that m8. Who said in FDev they're removing un-wanted PvP?

(since nonconsensual can't be said)

Utterly exposed. Just who, do you suppose, wants to be prey, besides other guys that like to prey? To me, just wanting to jump a hollow square, is just as much an 'out of game' action as Blocking is. Your not 'playing' the game when you simply hunt other players, you are only 'using' the game to hunt other players. I don't/wouldn't block you for this, but I can get behind those that feel they would. Their rights in this are just as, or stronger than, your rights in this situation.

After the Block crisis is over, are we to move onto how individual Modem/Routers can effect your right to blow my ship up? Or will we go back to 'forcing everyone into open' again? I'm sure we'll get to talk about Combat Logging again super soon.

Last week I've scanned 100 obelisks during 8 hours and made 201 million credits, in Open, without one single interruption. Now, that's just not fair (I know and agree, that's just my PoV). It would be more entertaining and rewarding for me if it'd been risky. Now, if that risk involved other CMDR, even better!! Content for me, content for them. And more rewarding once I've managed to finish it.

That's the kind of thing. Make missions with 30 million rewards or w/e, with the risk of being jumped by "bad guys" in Open. If you don't like, I'm pretty sure plenty of people farming in Open would.

Yeah you're all real heroes. Legends in your own lunchtime in fact.

Youtube videos of virtual spaceships orbiting each other and firing virtual bullets/plasma/railguns - if you've seen one you've seen 'em all.

Twitch streams of various rabid player-killers - I've watched many hours of that in a bid to understand the motivation behind it - ("If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.") - and frankly all I observe is a bunch of betas imagining they're alphas for blowing up non-PvPer's ships. The hearty laughs and the over-excited snickers that sound like they're coming from an 8 year old... I've seen a ton of stuff which has led me to the conclusion that all of the rabid player-killers aren't worth the effort it's taking to write this response to you.

How's that for maximum disrespect.

Piracy was dead at birth in this game, for reasons I've stated earlier in this thread that I don't think you've read at all until chucking your 2p's worth recently.

Fly safe, commando o9

A game ban from FDEV is a definite possibility if you continue grief other players with a total misconception of that type of behavior being acceptable in Frontier's eyes.

Feel free to ignore the warning... In fact, I encourage you to! :D
