Bob the Keelback - Memorial run to Beagle Point

Happy New Year to Tom and Sam! Glad to see you making friends on your journey; have a joyful 3303 and come back safely.
Perhaps it might be worth arranging for help from the Fuel Rats for the last leg of the journey: they travel everywhere (they have refuelled someone at Beagle Point before).

Actually it was 6700k lys and I've been out since NOV 22nd 3031.
I never thought it would be so hard moving so quickly and wanting to avoid mistakes.
But it was worth it to meet Tom the Keelback!
I wish I could help with the BP things Tom will be needing. Alas I have a goal of docking on May 22nd.
A shot I took of Tom yesterday:

If you want Tom and Sam to visit a special place or meet you -if you are out there- make a suggestion! Tom and Sam are currently at GREEROE WT-I D9-569. They will soon continue their journey towards Beagle Point.

Tom is going to need help to reach Beagle Point for -about- the last 40 jumps. He is going to attempt each jump with minimal fuel in his tank so he can jump further but this means he would need to refuel every jump and this isnt possible at every star. It would be nice if someone could help him during the last part of his journey to Beagle Point. Although he could make it without help he does not want to risk to lose anymore hull integrity by attempting planetary landings he does not need to do. His Hull is currently at 14%

Tom is also still carrying the Wanderlust Legacy of the Distant World Expedition (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=237963) he is going to carry it all the way to Beagle Point unless another Explorer wants to carry it on his journey and is willing to meet Tom to get the Legacy.

Day 21.-22. 3.-4. January 3303

Today Tom did travel to HATCHOI DS-Y B29-O 2...
On the way to HATCHOI DS-Y B29-O 2 Tom lost 6% hull while landing on a moon later he lost another 2% while picking up Sam.
Tom did continue to travel towards Beagle Point but unfortunately his landing approach to 15.2872° -109.4058° on HATCHOI DS-Y B29-O 2 was too fast and with only 6% hull integrity he crashed and died.

He only had aprox. 22.000ly left to go to Beagle Point.

Here are the last pictures Tom and Sam took on their journey...

Some sad music for those who want to feel so while watching the last pictures of Tom and Sam's journey.

Im sorry for those of you who were following the Story and especially for loosing one of the Explorer's Legacy's of the Distant Worlds Expedition. Tom could have made it, but I wasn't careful enough.

If you want to visit Tom's crash site: HATCHOI DS-Y B29-O 2 15.2872° -109.4058°

Maybe if enough people visit this place there could be a tourist beacon for Tom or even a real wreck at the position.

This is very sad news but, like Bob, Tom lived a good life, always curious and full of adventurous spirit o7 Sam will also be missed, having had little chance to explore and find his way around new and diverse worlds. They have achieved much in their short lives and seen some of the marvels that the Milky Way has to offer. And they made some friends.
.
I have made a note of the system and co-ordinates. I don't know when but I will visit. Their story will not be forgotten.
.
Please, don't let it end here.

NOOOOOOOOOOO....
This saddens me. I'm glad I was able to meet Tom. Some day I'll visit that system and leave something at the site.

As the current steward of the "Achievement" legacy, please accept my commiserations on your loss, I shall find and bookmark Tom's final resting place and visit it as I travel back from Beagle Point myself. I hope that there are others inspired by your journeying both past and future. May you always fly dangerous and leave interesting trails in the void between stars.

Serinea.

Day 2. - 21. June 3302 To carry a legacy!

Today Tom didn't go far...

...he stayed in SMOJAI DR-L BB-1...
http://i.imgur.com/HEn5JPd.png

...to receive a very special container from CMDR Brother Sabathius and his Sidewinder...
http://i.imgur.com/y72oomF.png

...after a bit of waiting CMDR Brother Sabathius arrived with his Sidewinder...
http://i.imgur.com/wnCUS19.png

...before the cargo transfer they had a nice talk and took a look if the Sidewinder can fit inside the Keelback...
http://i.imgur.com/wsq7JbE.png

... with a bit of cutting here and there it would maybe work...

...a short time later Tom received the special cargo...

And at this point, the reading voice in my head went all David Attenborough and I have been left feeling a little disturbed... as though I'd walked in on something I really should not have seen.
But what is seen cannot be unseen.. and now we know where SLF's come from.

Fortune's Favor Tom.

Just finished reading the "Bob" thread (which I couldn't rep 'cos it was locked) and now this one. These are brilliant mate ... how on earth have have I missed these?
There's more, describing the adventures of Charlie the Beluga (separated into a Comment thread and the story thread, due partly I think to the high volume of images):
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...venture-to-explore-the-Galaxy!-Comment-Thread
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...the-Beluga-An-adventure-to-explore-the-Galaxy!
There will hopefully be a video series in the near future as well, as explained in the (currently) last post in the Comment thread above

Plenty of good imagery in all of these stories - CMDR Miepit certainly has a good eye for a screenshot! o7
