"boost failed -- insufficient power in capacitor"

trying to strip away as much mass form my conda as possible, just left a station to try things out, and got this message.
Assuming this means I need a larger power distributor?

Lol!

You hacked your way to conda in a conflict zone and now need to learn basic newbie knowledge ?

When you press the boost button there are three things that can happen. Here's what they are and why they happen.

1. You boost! Yay!

2. You get the "boost failed" message. If your capacitor is full it means you ignored the "this capacitor will not allow you to boost" message when you bought it. If it isn't full it might just be recharging.

3. Nothing. The boost is still cooling down after the last time. No message is shown in this case.

Of course there is a fairly lengthy list of other things which can happen if you accidentally press another key. Don't do that.

If memory serves the 5A capacitor is the lightest which allows an Anaconda to boost. The 6D capacitor doesn't hold enough charge.

?? huh?
!) who said I was in a conflict zone?
2) who said anything about hacking?
3) I've spent my time exploring, I don't think I even knew what key the boost was mapped to until I her out for spin today in "stripped" mode to test everything out before I took off. so... why the hate?

Seriously guys, I know dealing with immature 12 year old trolls are part and parcel for any forum, but this is over the top. Ask a simple question, get a snide, baseless response?

yeah. . back to station for a refit :)

double check your power distributor class. I once put a smaller class on a Viper by accident and was puzzled by the same thing

see above response. I use the conda for exploration. I've spend over 80 hours game time on my last mission, and MAYBE spent 30 minutes out of super cruise. and more likely closer to 10 minutes. and NEVER had a need for boosting.
I've spent hours fitting the thing, never specifically tried for a stripped down, maximum jump range version.
Jesus guys, get a grip...

JMG, forget boosting if you want max range on your Conda (40LY) You don't really need boost when exploring. Take a look at this setup http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=606,,2-3I8S9Y8SA0D88I,53cmpa2jw2UI

Add AFMU's and keep them switched off unless needed.

Everyone, give the guy a break. you can go from a Cobra to a Conda in a few weeks if you explore and stop of in Neutron fields. Not everyone in the game is full on Pew/Pew and into hardcore ship configuration

Either your power distributor is too low a class, or you don't have enough pips and they're recharging too slowly (or you don't have any pips on engines so they're not recharging at all!)

I'm debating.. my current range is 35+ LY. The last bit of "luxury" I have on the ship is the (now :) ) a6 power distributor (which only dropped my range by .3ly), and two d6 peashooter turrets (which if I deleted both would give me 1 ly). MAx I've seen for a conda is 40 lys, so..I may stick with what I have.

I'll post my setup in a separate thread once I **ehem** confirm everything actually works.. please... comment away when I do. I'm shooting for a decent tour this time, and the 27 ly range I had last time and fuel scoop time really limited me.

Settle down people. Either help OP via constructive feedback or just move along.

Explorers spend very little time in realspace except when taking screenshots. What need has he ever had to need to know what is required for boosting? If a particular explorer isn't the type to boost while approaching or leaving the station, and is lucky enough not to get interdicted on his way out to the deep black, he might play for weeks without ever boosting at all.

And even without knowing he drew the correct logical conclusion -looks to me like he was just posting looking to verify it.

I swear, some people on this forum sit around looking for any excuse to belittle someone. Here's a tip... the person who ends up looking small is you.

My personal view is if you don't plan on using the conda for max range, you are better off with an Asp. That's why my conda sits in dock 90% of time.

The Conda excels at getting to hard to reach places.

I would say there is no point to light armament on a 'Conda explorer. Unless you run into Thargoids, you have no need for guns - wannabe pirates can't mass lock you - and for Thargoids I don't expect a couple of turrets will save you.

I'd advise going full guns or none.

On the topic of power distributors, how can I know how much my weapons will use per second and how much a boost uses for example? I noticed an 8D can power 2 large pulses pretty much for ever but I haven't noticed MJ/s usage on edshipyard or in-game.

I'm already at the outside range of an asp, with a bit more "comfort" level. 35+ lys is the best an asp can get, and at that it's basically stripped down (correct me if I'm wrong).
and I still have a few weps and shields. And besides, I acutally *like* the conda better... tried the asp, just isn't my style.

I don't think it's that granular, the best you can do is look at power usage when selecting different modules in the outfitting screen. Or just use http://edshipyard.com ;)

Try this thread. It doesn't have everything but it seems to be fairly accurate for what is there.
