Boycotting community events

HAha, I think this belongs in the Open/Solo thread :) Besides, many of the Cmdrs here play in Open by choice.. even if they are complaining.

It would be fine if the complaints were in RP form ...but this thread just shows that people that want to play in this part of the game, do not want to PVP. I would think my idea would gain quite a bit of traction from these folks as it is obvious they CHOSE to play where they are...but do not like the repercussions of doing so. The option I see as most viable for the game is to remove those repercussions and make them all happy!

I don't believe it because it is virtually implausible, it smacks of back-peddling and the fear that Frontier may take action.

Did you know that a player who was caught hacking infinite shields and infinite missiles by 7 different player groups on video submitted to Frontier and admit to hacking on twitch in a serious manner only received two stern warnings?

FD's action is the last thing we have to worry about, we care about our reputation.

If anything, I want FD to do an integrity check on our members just to see.

It does, by telling me that morality is so oppressive that people cannot express themselves openly.

Bizarre, does it not in fact point out that if you behave, or affiliate yourself with people behaving like jerks, then that will have a detrimental affect your reputation? (and rightly so).

It has obviously escaped your attention that the CG had already achieved it's goal of creating a Rare Good, even before the CODE got involved in trying to stop it.

Well it is not feasible to block a CG with the Option of Open available, so at least they tried. Everyone is talking about Code, mission achieved. PErhaps some Open only CG's would be fun, then we can really put their "blockade" to the test :)

lol this conversation reminds me a lot of threads on the eve online forums when miners in highsec get on the forums and cry sweet tears about getting blown up by another player. The miner says the player is not letting him "play his own way" because he wont let him mine in peace and the ganker says the miner wont "let him play his way" because he gets mad about getting ganked. This is all really simple... If you don't want to deal with other players potentially shooting at you, do not undock your ship in a multiplayer game. Play single player, even then npc's will shoot at you too.. If you are going to be upset when a player does something other than what you want them to do then you do not need to be a part of a multiplayer game or community. The essence of multiplayer games is the interaction with other players, whether it was a good or bad interaction for you.. It really is this simple and if you don't like it, they made solo play for a reason.

The problem you are having is that you cannot separate yourself from the mainstream morality and observe the events here relatively objectively. We are being jerks only because the majority of the community thinks that we are jerks, that is what moral is. It's an oppressive force utilized by the majority to alienate those that deviate from it. Yet its standard isn't divine or anything sacred, but mere human creation. Since that is the case, what separates one morality from another? You guessed it, they are intrinsically equivalent.

So don't assume we subscribe to the mainstream morality here.

If you look above you'll see where I outlined two personal examples, one of piracy and one of blockading, where I walked away from it as a positive experience. I'm all for piracy by players and blockading of systems. And, in fact, I'm sure a lot of other people here don't mind it either, when it's for legit (non Griefing) reasons.

But this isn't one of those cases, as has been clearly demonstrated.

So you're not going to respond to my question of why you considered the CG broke the rules, GluttonyFang? I'd like to know how it violated the rules. It was a guideline only as evidenced by using the word should rather than must. Sounds like an excuse. Why would you need an excuse? If I'm going to do something dodgy, I don't make excuses. I did such and such. How do you like me now?

It's is OK for CODE to grief people 24/7 but be careful not to say anything bad about them or insult them or else the forum mods will tell you off for being naughty. lol this place cracks me up. Not sure who is trolling us more: CODE, FDev or the forum mods. lol

Oh please, if the majority think you are acting like jerks, guess what, you are probably acting like jerks, there has to come a time where, if enough people are telling you that you are being disruptive, destructive, anti-social, whatever, that you stop screaming 'you, the vast majority are all wrong' and start looking in the bloody mirror.

exactly this. Apparently it is only a violation of consent if another human is there to be gratified by the death. It seems THAT is the real issue, not the destruction of the ship. If the players making these claims were honest, they would actually be advocating for a "no combat" mode, without weapons. As one player put it, the game was "intended" to be cargo ship vs cargo ship. Can't imagine how he came to that conclusion, given Open PvP has been there through the whole development, and is still there now. I never saw this mythical PvE Open mode they claim was the "real intention" of the game.

what happened to the first part of this thread, I didn't make this thread... now Im the OP, in which case..

DONT BOYCOTT Community GOALS!!!!

I know. I made it. It must have gotten merged with another one. Why I don't know, but there must have been a reason.

Difference is they are allowed to PK in game, personal attacks and unfounded accusations are prohibited on the forum. The two are not the same thing.

Mod reasons! It happens all the time here, people make coherent threads and people answer, then some mod comes along and goes "all these thread have a some words which are the same", then merges them all together in to a completely mixed up and incoherent pile of posts. But hey, they are mods, it must be the correct way to do things!

The two are not the same thing.
You don't say! Well I never. ^^

This is a logical fallacy, the appeal to the majority. The actual "majority" of people probably were in solo, never encountered them and do not care.

We don't grieve people.

Insulting people isn't productive, which is why it is prohibited.
