First of all, I would like to say THANK YOU to Baton. This thread has been an inspiration to me and encouraged me to leave my trader life and going out into the galaxy.

And I have found five sites with brain trees so far on 3 planets / moons.

Added following note to OP:

there is a major change in mechanics, coming at the end of 2018, that will allow surveying surface with probes. It will make the process much simpler and hopefully more rewarding, so you may as well wait till then

In the meantime Col 173 Sector DX-S b20-6 :)

Any tree locations in or around Colonia? Or just the ones near the bubble?

CMDR Ex

Nothing has been found so far near Colonia - but it does not mean there are no trees there, people keep looking :)

Other known locations:
Prai Hypoo - 12000ly from Sol (Prai Hypoo AA-A H60 )
Blaa Hypai - 12000ly from Sol ( Blaa Hypai AA-A H68 )
NGC 3199 - 15000ly from Sol
Eta Carina - 9000ly from Sol
Skaudai - 12000ly from Sol ( Skaudai AA-A H71 )
Eorl Auwsy - 21000ly from Sol ( Eorl Auwsy AA-A H72)

Cool. I'm heading out that way and exploring along the way. Keeping my eye out! :)

i cant find any in the listed locations, popped over to Synuefe PJ-D b46-10, body 3, coordinates 63.4538 // 93.4521 and nothing!

any suggestions? im looking for a nice view and brain trees close to the bubble

and if i understand your thread correctly, will i find trees here? - whats the likelihood?? its a eject crater right?

There were trees last time I checked, but you can never be too sure, sometimes things do not work correctly. https://i.imgur.com/PsmxFL5.jpg . Synuefe PJ-D b46-10 is an icy body, fairly rare, maybe something does not work right in your client because of that, or FD has taken them away from icy bodies entirely.
I am away from Elite at the moment, so cannot offer more help I am afraid.

Yes, the arrow on your picture points to a perfect example of an ejecta crater, but the body has to meet the requirements listed in OP.

Thanks Baton, its a great thread, Synuefe PJ-D b46-10 i can confirm contains no brain trees as of 21/08/2018 on xbox, who knows with all the other bugs and anomalies weather they are really "there"

Few interesting things which happen (3.1.3 Xbox)

Known locations the blue POI does not always show up
Brain trees are no longer visible from space (2-4km away i usually saw them when they first cam into the game) - and now on some planets i was 30m above them before they "generated" i.e. were rendered :(
Some planets have become Magnetic - let me explain...

If you point a compass to N for all intents and purposes it points north, but its magnetic and not a true bearing, hence if you navigate with anything electronic you will be out by a couple (up to tens) of degrees depending what year were in and also where you are Lat & Long (put simply) which can mean ending up in Florida while aiming for New York for some perspective.

so bizarrely i was heading at 90° but of course both cords were wildly going up, yet at 108° only one, now this is either some ingenious modelling and depth with a real handle on planet bearings or its a bug. i guess the latter

and the more i search ejecta craters i really hope in Q4 exploration update i can pop a pin on the planet surface to navigate to, trying to align visuals on a golf ball to find where the crater is....quite tedious.

anyway... i like brain trees but i do hope FD put some signalling into this once a body is scanned.. i.e highlighting potential search sites because when you DO find them.....

One other quick question, what star class is most likely to have volcanism planets ? Tia

oh and can you find them on moons with the right criteria ie temp and volcanism?

Whatever has the right temeperature and is volcanic. Moons are perfect for that.
As for the star class, well I prefer to look for a hot ones, with big goldilock zone, more chances there.

Just a quick mention here since it was mentioned in the list, if anyone is thinking of heading out towards Prai Hypoo I am currently doing an intensive survey of the area and currently have seven recorded systems with brain trees, one with a remarkable three moons in concentric orbits all having brain trees. The number of sites must be pushing up towards 50 now, so if you do go there and find something, I have probably already found it but I am holding off my report until I finish poking around :D

I am also hoping that some of the new guardian space structures from the next patch appear there as well since it seems such a prime location for guardian stuff.

Aye found some on an undiscovered moon last night, quite satisfying when you find them, annoying when the POI is just an outcrop in the middle of a crater though!

Well that burst my bubble for not looking in this thread for awhile. I have been in, out, and about Prai Hypoo above the nebula. I lost count of the number of locations I found, but it is less than 10. Nothing new but trees.

I found some cone fungus the other day, I am hoping to find the other types of bio-life but so far no, it may have to wait until the new exploration stuff in quarter 4.

A most interesting thread - I stumbled across it as I was looking for info on selling Data Point Info for E,A,F... (I now live and work in Colonia).
I learned a lot - e,g, I always wondered what the blue squircle was as I exited a planet/moon having done a mission....
Thank you all, and happy Things Hunting to you all.

This is of some interest to explorers, it may change thinking about Brain Trees altogether, for the first time I have found Brain trees on a body outside a splash crater with no corresponding Brain Trees actually in the crater. Even stranger, there was just one splash crater on the body. This is just to keep in mind, although there may be no Brain Trees in the splash craters, it doesn't actually mean there aren't any on the body. I will post a more detailed report in the other thread including body and locations in case anyone else wants to check it out. There's a chance I suppose that they just weren't showing up for me.
