What can be found in the target system is one thing. But what can be found in the vicinity of each system, in say, 50ly radius?

well the forum doesn't disappoint yet again.

FDev: Here have free updates for over a year players.
Forums: it's crashed my quantum liquid metal master pc, its witchcraft burn them.
FDev: We have fixed the bugs, and will soon be trying something new.
Forums: it's witchcraft burn them.
FDev: we hope you enjoy our new version of this old thing you were bored with.
Forums: ooo ooo ahhhhhhhhh (throws poo at everything)*
*Translation: It's witchcraft burn them.

why when FDev try something new do all the moaners come out of the woodwork. In my opinion I am glad FDEv have tried something new especially after gnosisgate, but I also agree that it should of been implemented better and in game instead of out of game. but I will not cry salt and whinge about this and that until after its finished. seriously would you moan about a sports team losing before they even started the match?

Honestly when I saw vessel blue prints I thought we were getting a new ship and got excited, then I was like "oh yeah we already had that and I already got my SLF guardian tech fighters" lol

When this turns into a relog fest (as you know it surely will), you WONT want everyone at the same GR. The ones deeper in Guardian Territory are surrounded by piles of GR and other sites.

In October of 3302, the first set of Guardian Ruins was discovered by CMDR XDeath in the Synuefe XR-H D11-102 system, and inspired thousands of Commanders to head out into the black, searching for more information about the ancient alien race.

Three years later, we’ve discovered Guardian Structures and Beacons, we’ve worked alongside the Engineer, Ram Tah, to create weapons and modules, and we’ve even rediscovered the blueprints for ancient Guardian ships and pieced them together with our own ships to once again take them to the skies.

Today, we’re proud to begin the all-new, first ever Interstellar Initiative... Bridging the Gap. We invite you to make your mark on the Elite Dangerous universe and to help shape its future and its story.

What are Interstellar Initiatives?

Interstellar Initiatives are a series of in-game events and narratives that play out over the course of approximately a month. Each one features several phases that will alter as the story progresses and may end with lasting effects on the galaxy!

Zende Partners Announces Transport Service

Zende Partners has revealed plans to establish a ferry service between the core systems and Guardian space.

Freya Taine, the company’s CEO, made this statement:

“In response to increasing demand for Guardian commodities, my company aims to facilitate access to the area once occupied by the Guardians. This will involve the construction of a megaship to transport pilots to and from this comparatively inaccessible region.”

“Five systems have been highlighted as potential destinations, and we’d like to invite the galactic community to decide which of these should serve as the termination point for the megaship. We will then build an outpost in the chosen system, and the megaship will enter service.”

“We hope that this initiative will stimulate new innovations in the field of Guardian-human technology.”

How do you get involved?

Zende Partners have identified five locations in Guardian space where they will not only set up an outpost, but fund the creation of a Megaship ferry that will take Commanders from the system of Zende to a location voted for by the community
  • Candidate System #001 - IC 2391 Sector FL-X b1-7
  • Candidate System #002 - Synuefe IL-N C23-19
  • Candidate System #003 - Synuefe EN-H d11-96
  • Candidate System #004 - Synuefe GT-H b43-1
  • Candidate System #005 - Synuefe PF-E b45-5
It's an ambitious plan. With easier access to Guardian technology, Zende Partners hope to build and develop new technology to benefit the human race... and, perhaps, their economic standings.

To get involved with this first phase of Bridging the Gap, all you need to do is cast your vote above!

You have from now until 6 May 2019 at 11:00 AM (UTC) to vote for your choice of destination. Choose wisely!

Join us aboard the Stargazer!

To assist you in making an informed decision, the flight team of the “Stargazer” will take you on a visit to one of the Guardian Sites and talk about what your options are during the next episode of the livestream series: “Stargazing Tours”. Tune in at 18:00 (UTC) on 2 May on either YouTube, Twitch or Mixer.

Good luck, Commanders.

With so much information I couldn't help but pick the middle one. You go #3, you get that ferry.

A lot of the feedback here is spot on.

You've asked us to choose between options which are, on the face of it, indistinguishable; given us no context; and the choice appears to be meaningless, given that the systems are close together anyway.

You've also asked to vote on your forum (which you've told us in the past only a fraction of players use) when you have a perfectly good videogame that we could have voted within.

You've said that we'll be given more information during a livestream on Thursday. Thursday is a long way away from Monday in internet land - why open the vote before people understand what they're voting for?

The people accusing others here of being too critical: as long as the feedback isn't rude or personal, players absolutely should call out bad decisions. This is either a howler, or just poorly implemented.

Last week's patch broke a shocking amount of the game for what was an undeniably modest update. It is difficult not to question the QC process, given how widespread and impactful the bugs are.

The people moaning in this thread don't hate Elite, they love it - we moan because it's important to us. At the moment we seem to love it despite the way it's being managed, not because of it.

Keep the megaship as a weekly jump FDev, if a player can't be bothered to fly a measly ~700ly to unlock some Guardian tech then make them give up a week of their gametime at least.

As mentioned a half decent ship can get there in 15-20 minutes atm. If Cmdrs find that too much of a chore then they probably won't be around for long as this is one of the easier grinds in the game.
So, you suggest to keep the outcome of the initiative useless?

Synuefe EN-H d11-96 is looking best candidate IMHO
Could you please explain your reasoning? I'd like to know how you came to that decision.

For me personally, from this information it looks like IC 2391 Sector FL-X b1-7 is best. It has a very low supercruise distance, it is close to two other sites, and has a guardian ruin.

What makes d11-96 better?

My mistake, the quoted table and the voting list are sorted differently. I think you are right. d11-96 looks like the best choice.

Blimey, who thought clicking a button, or not, would cause so much angst?

You might argue that people not playing the game at the moment aren't going to find out about it if it's in-game only (I can imagine the complaints), but if folk are checking the forums/YouTube/emails then they will. That said it would be nice to have in-game voting for a variety of reasons.
It doesn't bother me either that much, but the voting could have been done via the messaging system I would have thought. Maybe they will see how this one starts and if it's succesful they will add to it, hopefully in-game.

From a min/max standpoint, this makes sense. From a practical standpoint, there is not any significant difference in any of the suggested systems. All of these systems are just a handful of jumps away from each other, and for most players, less than 15 minutes jumping from the ferry point. I suspect many players will end up travelling further just to get to the ferry, than the distance the ferry is actually going to carry them.

It's not them trying something new that's the problem, it's the consistent disconnect between what they assume to be a good idea and the reality. It really does seem like no one at Fdev actually plays their own game. Seriously, all they need to do is ask someone 'is this a good idea?' before proceeding and they would save themselves so much embarassment.

I guess the slow start is to give the devs time to get the bug fix release out this week.

At this early stage it's premature to criticise or praise the initiative. It's the first one FDEV run so there will be a learning curve for them. I can handle a few startup problems.

A new Galnet story has popped up "Zende partners announces transport service".
A little late, but maybe its a sign that more things are to come.

What would be useful is the services the outpost will offer.

1) How about a Guardian material trader
2) Commodities market that sells all the types of Guardian relics.
3) Good paying long haulage cargo missions to deliver Guardian tech to stations in the bubble and Colonia

Hello everyone,

We just wanted to let you know that we’ve been reading your feedback and shared it with the team. We’ll be taking it on board for this current and future Interstellar Initiative(s).

As mentioned in the OP, Bridging the Gap is composed of several phases, the following of which will be focused entirely within the game itself.

While we intended to delve a little deeper in to the candidate systems on this Thursday’s livestream, we’ve collated some information about the options here.
