i left it on the radiator for a day or so, it tried to come back on bless it, spluttered a little, then gave a bit of false hope, then died
it was an old dell one from about 7 years ago if not longer, it was probably thankfull for the oppotunity to die
OMG he's said the D word in these hallowed halls, what is the world coming to he will be yelling the cursed L word from the rooftops next 🤣

I may be completely wrong about this but I have the sense that a lot of the people on the forums have sort of a bad ex-wife relationship with ED. Something along the lines of: they’ve played it for multiple thousands of hours and over that time it stopped exciting them the way it did at the start of their relationship. Eventually the relationship turned sour, then bitter, and now they don’t really even play anymore but follow closely enough to take shots at it and take glee in anything negative that happens.

As a newer but established player (~700 hours,) I find a lot of what happens on the forum a bit confusing and kind of depressing. It’s probably the most hours I have in any game and I’m still finding things almost every day that are fresh and exciting. I feel like the new boyfriend. I know she’s not perfect and has been through a lot and I love her and appreciate her for the amazing game she is!

There seems to be a lot of criticism on here from people who have (or maybe had) passion for the game, but their love for it is long gone. Their “ex” has changed and gone her own way and when she falls on hard times it brings a smile to their face. The whole thing is pretty toxic for everyone involved. The best path forward might be for both sides to admit they’ve grown apart, don’t share each other’s vision of the future, and just went their separate ways.

Or maybe I’m reading too much into everything and this is just how Internet forums are.
There's alot to unravel in this so I will try to be thorough. The first thing you have to remember is that new players and old players have two entirely different experiences. The old players have been around long enough to have seen the developers promise a thing, take ages to develop said thing, release said thing to find it doesn't work as intended and is actually garbage, thing goes through the standard 3 patches and is then dropped and never touched again. Rinse and repeat for a few years and yes people will become bitter. Odyssey just happens to the latest and biggest example of this over a long line.

The forums are generally split into two camps when it comes to progression in the games development. You have the camp that wants new and better things and the camp that wants the game to progress but stay exactly the same as it's been because they are afraid of change. Fdev are notorious for shoving things into the game that neither camp wants and ultimately sit unused.

The company does treat us like an abusive spouse. Look at consoles for example. They have allowed us to go an entire year believing we're getting dropped and have never offered us any reassurances otherwise.

Anyway if your having fun with the game that's good. Have fun I'm not saying you should jump on the hate train. Just understand we have legitimate grievances with the developer beyond "I'm bored pls add more stuff".

I dunno about that. I strongly doubt there's anyone here who doesn't want/appreciate new content. And its a bit of a double edged sword - a lot of the people who've been most vocal about Frontier disappointing them also railed against things like UI changes.

I think its more down to the fact that its a niche game, and you have a lot of people wanting/hoping/demanding the game be made to suit what they want it to be, and the reality is that Frontier is trying to please everyone and its ended up more "jack of all trades, master of none" sort of thing.

The alternative is that they try to accommodate everyone's demands/wants, and you... well, end up with a game that's been in alpha a decade, with no sign of release, but people love it because "ship interiors"

Before I ending on a paid demo, for a feature, which didn’t worked correct (streams proof this often) I stick to elite, and wait for sllllooooooowww development.

Edit: the almighty soon tm god will come back with full strength I guess end of the week 😅

whilst I enjoy parts of ed for what it is, I don't think this is true either, certainly not in many cases. I want the game to be more like the game THEY said it was going to be. sure some things change and what not but I still thing that game they outlined would be fantastic . I do likely think it's impossible to bring in to the current framework however and probably would be better to have an ED2. problem is then the 1 reason I keep on playing the game as it is now really would likely be on the chopping block.

Thanks for that ❤️

no sadly not, will stay on consoles, but who knows what the future brings.

some space related stuff, a lamp which look like a planet, some clothes . I am the only one who take notice that when your getting older your Family struggles to get presents for you? 😂

i think it has to do with the possibilty that everything what I want I bought it myself.

but with space related gifts I’m always happy. Now fdev can bring up a lately present and breaks their silence for every one who is affected.

Edit: I am totally addicted to space things and everything which is related to this.

Ah never mind - I was only teasing about the pc anyway mate!.

I totally agree with you on family buying gifts when you're an adult, although I'm also tempted to go off on one of my Grandpa Simpson rambles about things being better in my day!

I think a lot of us are space nuts too to be honest mate, and in this forum there are also some who are simply nuts!

Anyway, get off my lawn you pesky kids!

Yeah, I play Elite in spite of the fact that it's an mmo, certainly not because of it.
And, I resent putting up with all the grindy nonsense just to access the parts I do like--all related to combat.

Making ED an MMO was calculated to please investors rather than players, as evidenced by the huge number of solo players and lack of players in open.

So, they made a game nobody wanted because it fit a trendy business plan. Now, they're reaping the consequences of that.

It's a big reason why so many long-time players turned on the game when ED: O launched with poor performance and an emphasis on more grinding and gameplay nobody asked for.

The best things they've done for this game in years was buffing credits for combat. Nerfing the engineering grind and fixing performance would win me and many others back.

so I would be all for cutting the materials. iron being a rarity, having to jump through hoops for ship parts that are in my very ship and get replaced at a whim on insurance...... but personally I hate the credit explosion and would much rather FD kept a tight leash on credits bit made everything in game purchasable with them. it's just more believable as opposed to a ship suit or handgun which costs the same as a spaceship
