Bubble explorers wanted - Data needs you!

This is a bit of an unusual request, I'm a big fan of how EDSM and EDDN gather data through players (Thank you EDDiscovery, thank you EDMC) and I've decided to give myself a hefty project to try and help out these fine sites, clean up data and the like... My project is a bit much for me to chew on alone.

You know EDSM's main page shows us which stations have the oldest and could use more recent data. Well I'm working through a little known list that shows stations that NEVER had a price update done through EDMC or EDdiscovery. (Anyone can use the list from ross: https://ross.eddb.io/station/closest-missing , just put the system you're in, see whatever station near needs data)

So my request to the community! Anyone with EDMC or EDDiscovery care to help me beat down that list? I want to see it reduced to zero within my gaming lifetime! To help, just land at those stations with the market connector running.

Data for the data god! :D

edit: On october 6th, the list was finally beat down to only a few systems with permit locks that nobody can go to! Good work everyone! (And apparently that was about 300-400 stations we hit)

Hey Lance! Good to see you here again. It was nice to cross paths during DW2. ;)

You know, I had the same thought about beating down the EDSM list. And then I forgot about it. I just left the bubble last night, but I haven't gotten far. I'm not heading anywhere specific, so maybe I'll make a U-turn and check some stations out.

I actually did do this for a while. It's surprisingly fun to explore the bubble, especially with all the new content added there in Chapter Four. (It's a pity how installations are mostly wasted, they are great to fly and fight around.) Set up a multi-role ship, went between "missing" stations, dropped in on things, did various stuff - it was fun. Good for stocking up on various mats, too. However, in a couple of days, there always came plenty of "new" bases to visit, so it would be a pretty big task to beat it down completely.
Still, best of luck with it!

Hey Orvidius, glad to hear from you!

Well marx, just to avoid confusion the 'space installations' you cannot land at, so they don't count. What does count in that list I brought out are ground installations you can land at, outposts and space stations (And just those that have a commodity market). So actually there hasn't been a noticable increase since planetary landings came out... Some 'out there' stations were added, asteroid bases and nebula stations, and those are invariably visited by explorers that run EDMC or the like. So they're fine.

So just to clarify: EDSM will show 'old stations that didn't get a data update in a long time'...
But this list from ROSS, https://ross.eddb.io/station/closest-missing , that shows station that NEVER had a visitor with EDMC to throw the data at ross, that's what I'm tackling. :)

P.S.: If you're scouring the edge of the bubble to work this list, keep an eye out for stations that have commodities in the system map, but not in EDDB.io. Those you can -add- to the database. Shame we don't have a 'first landed at by...' tag, but I can proudly say I found a half-dozen in the last few months. :)

No worries, I understood, I just worded it badly. I was looking at the EDSM list when I was thinking of doing something similar previously. ;) I visited a couple at random tonight, but I'll try to hit more in the next few days.

I noticed one such station while skirting the fringe of the Bubble a few weeks ago. Was using the system map to click on each station in-game, looking for one with a superpower-aligned owning faction I could dump exploration data at, and found one, a remote planetary outpost. Opened Inara to check it out... and to my surprise the station wasn't listed there. I was running EDD as usual, so when I visited the station, it then popped up in Inara.

So that's one less for you.

I'm not even close to the bubble, but since I'm playing flying on PS4 I guess I can't contribute (?). I use just the EDSM online updating tool.

The timing worked out well for me since I was parked in the bubble for the update last week. I was going to be out of town anyway, so I figured I'd just dock for the week. And then this came up just as I was heading out again, but it's no problem to hang back a little longer. It gave me a chance to swap out my power plant since I was rethinking it anyway. ;)

This is odd. One of the stations I visited disappeared from the list, as expected, however the other did not. I visited the one at the top of the list (Hippalus Enterprise in Varam) and it's still there.

Well Recrudece, the percent is a rough guesstimate of 'how much of the essential info has been uploaded to Ross'. Say you're missing distance, that puts you at less than 100%...

And if you get an oddity like missing distance, that's because it's possible to enter data manually! EDMC is obviously more practical, but that tool didn't always exist. Hence, oddities in the data.

And I'm glad I'm seeing like-minded nutcases out there! XD High-five Ethelred!

Is there anything specific we're supposed to do to trigger the right journal entries? Some of the ones I visited and even opened the commodities market are still in the list with "no" for prices.

Further update on this-- It appears to work reliably if I buy and sell something. I've been buying 1 ton of hydrogen fuel and then selling it back, and that seems to work. Odd that it was inconsistently working with just looking at the commodities panel, though I suppose it's possible someone else was visiting the same places and it wasn't working for me at all. Who knows. At least I'm able to contribute reliably now. ;)

That's weird, personally I use EDMC and just landing is enough. Are you using that or EDDiscovery?

With EDMC, my settings' first tab, output, says I 'automatically update on docking'.
