Community Event / Creation Buckyball Racing Club presents: The A* Challenge V2.0

I might give another go with a ship that's NOT a Cobra, but that's not high on my to-do list. Still, I haven't seen my name on the board, as of this writing. I should be at or around #100.
Your run is on the board now, #114. :)

The leaderboards only get updated occasionally, and the main boards have the in-game date that they should be accurate to.

I generally try to make an update post every month, but as this is quite an old challenge now some months are very quiet, in which case I just wait until there's enough runs to make an interesting update report, or wait for a significant event.

As it happens, there was very little activity until the last two weeks, where things suddenly went a bit crazy. I'm expecting more runs from Ravenov, Goosefraba, Alot and Dr. Chives, so I'll probably need to update again in the next week or two. Or it might go quiet, and then I might not update for months again. 😆

Well, I am stepping away from the Anaconda for a bit, been rebuilding another ship at the moment. I don't like the heat buildup when scooping with it... Then let's see if we can put a dent in the row of 'condas on the board. ;)

I'm suiting up to go for a run in a Diamondback. The thing when stripped down can go almost 40ly per jump, so I'm confident that's enough to attempt reaching Beagle Point, as a secondary objective. Plus, halving the baseline event length means I won't need to make this an all-day thing, which is much more comfortable.
I can't say that it'll break the record, but I CAN say that I should be in a position where I can attempt it. Specifically the Classic leaderboards, and the non-engineered bracket.

Once I get my WiFi card, I should be able to ready my primary gaming rig...I'll want to fire on all cylinders for this. But for right now, it's past my bedtime.

@Raiko I hope you didn't write the race report yet ;), because:

I am currently in the process of setting up for my Classic run with a vanilla Diamondback, stripped down to the barest essential parts in the hopes I can kill two birds with one stone and also attempt reaching Beagle Point while I'm headed in that vague direction.

This post acts as a mark for cross-referencing purposes, and while not denoting the precise time of start, can be used to help validate the historical accuracy of this attempt I intend to commence today.

Here are the screenshots for proof that this is indeed a Classic run to the Galactic Core.

Ooh nice run @Dr_Chives, pinching the "fastest non-conda" title from @Ravenov and making the first <2hr Phantom run. o7 Cmdr!

I've partly written the report, but got sidetracked by (a) work, (b) the kids (while working from home) and (c) you guys all chatting in the discord and making me want to make a Beagle Point speedun!

I have bit written referring to your head-to-head race to Sadge with Little Fool, I'll have to edit that now as you've gone and put the record straight.

I am currently in the process of setting up for my Classic run with a vanilla Diamondback, stripped down to the barest essential parts in the hopes I can kill two birds with one stone and also attempt reaching Beagle Point while I'm headed in that vague direction.
Good Luck @The Golden Knight! o7
If you stick around for a few days, maybe I'll see you there.

Also, as you've chucked away that advanced docking computer thingie from your build - welcome to the Buckyball Racing Club for real.

Remember when you're back in the bubble, you don't need an ADC, just Dirty Drives and the boost button.
The BRC votes NO to "auto-launch" and YES to "launch, retract gear, boost!!!!"
Fly fast Cmdr!

I'm planning to stop off at Sadge for a brew, so:

Intent to run:
  • CDMR Raiko
  • The Nomad (Asp Explorer)
  • Open Unlimited.

I don't think I'll be challenging Cmdr Ravenov's Asp-X Class record, but as I'd really quite like a <2hr time of my own, I won't be slowing down if it looks like I might manage it. ;)

More realistically, I'll be more than happy to get there in about 3 hours and hopefully BP in 8-10. :)

I've been busy harvesting Polonium from the polonium trees in HIP 36601, will hopefully be ready later in the week.

I'll get the update report finished tonight or tomorrow - I should be a little less busy with work stuff this week. :)

At 70 jumps per hour, I don't see a way of challenging the record. Problem is, with whatever advantage I can scheme up, it won't be an advantage unless it were exclusively mine.

7.5 plus 2, so about 9.5 hours.
9:32:19 is the time, to be precise.
I am INCREDIBLY BUMMED I did not break the record.

Thanks ... was first run of a new route, so the usual teething problems, but couldn't let @Dr_Chives have all the fun ;)

The second run of your new route was pretty spectacular too. :)

Anyway - seeing as someone mentioned that only Condas get a look in - to go with this:
Record_History.png

I've also done this:
No_Conda_Record_History.png

Although both lists have a similar theme at the moment!

The second list at least has a bit of competition between different ship classes, even a surprise Imperial Clipper appearance thanks to a well timed run by @ForeverN00b.
I'll only be maintaining those two record lists, so for any ship that slower than an Asp / DBX / Phantom I'm afraid the class records will have to do.

I've just finished updating the leaderboards again. I'm going to upload them to the OP now, and then hopefully get that report post sorted tomorrow!
