Bug in the engineer workshop

I was able to update an FSD by choosing the FSD then filter for available upgrades/blueprints. Got this from another post. Although I can't update anything else than FSD using this.
yes I also figured out that workaround but am still unable to put experimental effect on the item.

Don't know about any of you guys, but the Remote Workshop won't allow me do do anything.
Yep, same for everyone. Remote or not, engineers are broken at the moment, screen freezes. Let's hope this problem will be solved asap, because this one is kind of a big one.

Nevertheless, let's stay positive! There are still plenty of things to do in a 1:1 scale galaxy! 🛸

Except for a couple of time where as I tried to do some remote engineering, I've not really noticed how bad the update messed things up.
It's been three weeks and one day since my new begging on the PC and so far I've made it to Rear Admiral, King and Explorer Elite. Bought and completely "A" graded in addition to loading out all 5 of the ships I had on PS4 and the Xbox. Which are the Python, Krait MkII, Conda, Cutter and the Corvette; Got two billion to be applied to the Carrier when it's available.
With all the mats I gathered doing the various missions to date, I've managed to get 10 engineers to level 3. Now it's time to do some serious mat gathering. I started with NO mfg's at Jameson Crash site and doing 20 reloads in 5 trips to Ray's. I've managed to completely fill all of the G1's, G2's and G3's. Doing the math, I've got 6 trips back and forth to completely fill every single mfg. Then it's on to Dav's Hope unless they fix the remote engineering. Then it a 1700ly trip to gather and trade twice to fill 100% of my raws.

It's a known issue and a fix will be applied ASAP. Meanwhile, there's a bodge available:

Obviously because you can only engineer available mods, grades which you don't have the materials for won't appear. Also you can't apply secondary effects once a mod is complete so if you want to add, say, mass manager to an FSD upgrade, apply it while you still have engineering rolls to apply.

That didn't work, what else you got, Old man?

Greetings Commanders,

The Elite Dangerous servers will be offline for all platforms today at 13:00 (UTC) for approximately 30 minutes to apply a minor update containing a number of fixes.

Thank you for your patience.

Please find the full patch notes below:

Crashes/Stability
  • Fixed a crash that could happen when trying to load the game on PlayStation 4
Network
  • Fixed issue with players not being able to connect through a VPN
Engineering
  • Fixed soft lock when engineering an item
Communication
  • Fixed an Xbox One issue that allowed other users to communicate with a player that they are not friends with, when that player has the 'p=others can communicate with voice, text, or invites' privilege is set to 'Friends'

Guess I'm done passing the time by unlocking new engineers I can't use.

I hope this is going to fix the bug and put everything back to work... I'm sitting away from my home system after having moved ships and modules for upgrades, not playing since the patch came out.

Yo ho! The screen isn't freezing anymore in Remote workshops. I guess it's the same at engineers places. I'm going to verify right now. Thanks FDevs, you worked fast on that unpleasant glitch.

You can rejoice, dear whining ED fellow gamers, the inefficient-non professional-lazy-idiot Fdevs who don't even test their updates before release got lucky this time when pressing random buttons on their keyboard: they managed to debug the engineers! #irony

What is your interpretation of "FAST". Been broke since the supposed update.

They broke it on Wednesday and had it fixed and released the next Monday. That's quick for a game sync'd across 3 platforms.

Props FDev!
Are you saying they knew about it being broke before they released it? Cause that's what it sounds like.

I didn't say anything, nor do I know anything, about what "they knew". I first encountered the engineering bug last wednesday right after the quarterly update and reported it at that time. And it's fixed the following Monday. In my experience, that's quick.

It released last Wednesday dude ..

Right, so if the platforms historically required 5-10 business days to certify a patch and we observe that all the platforms released the same fix patch at once it can be reasonably assumed that the fix was in the pipe prior to the September update going live.

In other words: FD released a thing broken and knew it was broken prior to release but is eating up your praise of them for the quick fix.

Ah gotcha. There were two patches for PS4 on the Wednesday, so I guess fdev are in the fast track for PS4 (not that it helped). Does seem a fast turnaround on Xbox...

Filthy reptilians! They got us again!
