Bug or misunderstanding?

And by misunderstanding, I mean on my part. Posting this in Exploration because it feels related but I don't really know what is going on, I'm just looking to understand at this point.

So on Friday I made a trip towards a Maelstrom and on the way I found a planet with 8 bio signals, and I though I'd break the monotony by doing some Exobiology. I FSSed the entire system, also DSSed the planets I landed on, and one of two waterwolds in my path, then went ahead and cashed in. I know for a fact that I sold the Exo data and the Explo data before jumping into combat.

Now I am repositioning to a different Maelstrom and faith has it that my route went through the same system. I know because I made a bookmark of the system. And lo and behold, the system is unexplored to me!

And also I feel the need to emphasize this: I definitely did not die, not between Friday and Sunday, not between the initial scan and selling the exploration data, in fact not for a while.

So am I misunderstanding something? Wasn't the system supposed to be known to me for all eternity, once I committed the data to the UC? And if this is a bug, isn't it a pretty serious one? I mean, the whole point of the exploration gameplay is getting bodies marked as visited in this galactic level game of Bingo, if some of them can just get "lost", then what's the point...

PS: ok I just remembered some details that might be relevant. Sorry for leaving this out:

Initially I scanned the system while traveling through it, in a ship that did not have a DSS.
Then I docked, sold the data, and switched to a different ship.
Upon selling the data, I made explorer rank Pioneer.
I then traveled back (at this point the system was still explored), did some DSS, did the Exobio.
Traveled to a different station, sold the additional data there.
Switched back to the first ship, passed through the system again, it was unexplored.

Ok, now I feel dumb...

I scanned most of the system again, except one little planet behind the main star...
Then alt+tabbed and came here to complain.
Now (15min after alt+tabbing) I get back into the game.
That little planet is now scanned....

Must have been some sort of desync, miscommunication etc.

While exceedingly uncommon, and certainly not in the area of the maelstroms, there are some systems with the same name that could cause this confusion, that's the only situation I could see this happening without it being a bug related to the length of time it has taken to update the data on FDEV's servers or communication error with the data not passing from those servers to your PC correctly. In this case it does seem to be a communication error. I have not had it happen to me but then I don't tend to pass through the same systems on a regular basis in a short period of time, and maybe that's what the cause of the issue was, glad it has resolved itself.

FD should be embarrassed at how long it takes this game to update itself. Proof: when doing Community Goals, INARA updates my status on the CG faster than my Transactions tab in game. What you have witnessed is just another example of the same. Whenever something doesn’t appear to update, don’t get concerned until at least 24 hours have elapsed.
