Bug? Unodcumented feature? lol noob L2FSD?

So I was out exploring these past few weeks, and as the madne... er, curiosity started to set in, I start pushing buttons to see what would happen. :D

At one point I push the FA off button, and since I'm in super cruise, the computer says nothing, I get no notification in the info panel, etc... So I figure, huh FA Off must not work in SC (side note: it would be supertotallyawesome if it did). I go on with my explorating.

Next jump is a Neutron star, so I set destination, engage hyperdrive, and during the load screen pull my throttle to zero. Been doing that umpteen thousand times before. Only this time is different.

When I get to the Neutron star. I'm somewhat puzzled (read: pants-[redacted]-ly scared beyond my wits) to find out that my Asp is still at 100% throttle, and my physical (Warthog) throttle doesn't get any more 0%. Turning FA back "on" (no voice or message this time either) appears to fix the issue for subsequent jumps.

So, I guess FA Off in SC works? Sort of? Not really? :S

If it *is* a bug, FD owes me a new pair of undies.

I've done exactly the same thing. Thought my throttle was faulty, but it was as you fond out, accidental press of the FA off button.
Would be nice to be told this happens via a voice message indeed.

<ahem....clears throat in the most condescending way possible....ahem> "That's why it's called Elite Dangerous....Not Elite Carebear....Even the ships in this game are out to kill you. Maybe this game isn't for you...."

Now that I got that snarkiness out of my system...It has happened to me, yes it did induce a near bowels clearing experience and yes, most definitely it should be a bug and the indicator lite should show you that FA is off as well as a nice friendly tone from the "friendship" lady telling you that flight assist is off.

FAoff in supercruise should make you drop out of warp and still be moving at 30km/s, so you have to drop out early and suicide burn to a relative stop outside your destination.

drop out of warp and still be moving at 30km/s

That was (sort of) how I figured out the issue. After my near-miss with the Neutron star, I SC'ed a great distance with the intention of exiting out of the game long enough to ask anyone online if they'd heard/seen this behaviour (I had great conspiracy theories about undocumented bugfixes to throttle behavior). I went through my log-out dance (throttle to 0, exit SC, etc...) and I found myself with 0 throttle still traveling at rather high speed in normal space (don't think it was 30km/s though). Then I noticed the FA Off indicator.

Foiled by my own button-pushery.

Hahaha, exploring makes people crazy, and the first thing they do when they go crazy is to start pushing buttons while in hyperjump.
Crazy unshaven explorer: What's this button do? I know what it does in regular space, I wonder what would happen if I push it now? Should I? No, I shouldn't. Ah, what the hell, it won't do anythi...."
