for me, building and designing in planet zoo makes up at least 80% of the game's fun. and i almost always have the thought of how close planet zoo is to a historical building game. If you could turn the zoo animals' enclosures into pastures, add a similar mechanic for farming, and maybe wood farming and mountain farming, you'd already have a foundation. guests could act as merchants who buy the goods, stay overnight and pay for their drinking camels and donkeys instead of just using the toilet.
