Buildings & Attractions Building Tools: Grades, Meters and other Helpers

Your Feature Request / Idea
Ok, I'm starting this thread after spending more than one hour trying to (unsuccesfully and frustratingly) build just a sector of Isla Nubla.

We are all aware of the pain of "terrain constraints" and how you practically need to deforestate and flatten every single inch of an island before having a chance to begin building in a way enough to exploit the small space avaliable.

When, and if, they add new structures in the future... how on earth are we supposed to place them within the current maps? And I don't think future maps will be that bigger, for they should be adapted for consoles too (consoles' JWE is, in my opinion, a way too ambitious decision made way too early, but that's another point).

So, when you manage to deforestate and flatten everything (which, by the way, isn't something neither quick, nor fun, nor even easy!!) then you face the structures themselves: all have different sizes, different shapes... you can't even make a perfectly straight, simplistic "main road" with half the available shops and restaurants.

Then, placing fences and viewing points gets really, really annoying because you can't even see what they are supposed to point at. Let's say you place a tower in a place you think would have a good view of a valley or plain and just when it is already built (after messing with the terrain again) you realize half it's viewing area falls out of the paddock.

Now, lore-wise, landscaping was a capital point for both JP and JW and, since we don't have that many tools there (and I admit some of them would be hard to implement and work with, such as waterfalls, hills, etc), please, let's have some kind of helping tools to build without trashing the whole map with trials and errors (at least, while building for the first time).

Ideally, there should exist the following:

Smoothier turning of buildings - so we can make them fit among themselves. Currently this seems imposible as they always rotate too fast or to preset positions (not sure which).

Grid - whenever one enters "building mode", we should be able to activate a grid over the terrain to help measure distances and create symmetrical designs.

Viewing preview - for Viewing Galleries, Viewing Platforms and the like, their viewing range should also be showed (or being able to be showed) along with the space needed to place them. It just doesn't make sense we have to try to do it by sight alone, even architects and engineers employ some kind of helps to do that. That takes me to the main point:

Sketching mode - before actually build anything, thus destroying the landscape you so carefully, boringly and frustratingly have prepared beforehand, there should be a mode you can activate to "build without build", that is, to go placing things the way you like, have a fleeting view of the whole picture and then approve (thus actually building) or restart (thus having your island's landscape intact).

Ideally, this Sketching mode should also allow us to "paint" areas (maybe with the help of the grid) in order to plan better our parks, but that may be way too far.

But the cone of vision does show when placing a viewing building?

Good suggestions!

The current system is quite rough especially for careless players like myself.

The grid system would be useful to evaluate elevation as well.

I like the sketching mode. I think it’s useful if the game can be paused under such mode. The inability to pause the game during construction is both an inconvenience and a distraction.

Finer terrain tools are absolutely necessary. For finer building rotation placement, I’m thinking of using user numerical inputs (315.1 Degree etc.) but it isn’t convenient for consoles.

Personally, I’m having problems with the inability to flatten terrain on the border. Since the elevation throughout the border is unequal, it creates a lot of difficulty and wastes a lot of space. I would appreciate if the border can be flattened by extending the flexibility.
