buy a Python or not

I have a question, And I can't decide what i should do. I have at the moment a A grade Vulture with mirror armor and 42 mil in the bank, So if i sell my vulture I get like 74 mil on the bank so I can get a pyton. But I will not afford all the bang and glory on that ship. I try a little of what i can have on the ship and end up witch a cargo pyton with a rebuy cost of 3.3 mil and had 10 mil left on the bank. Should i trade in my Vulture or what. Vulture are a great ship in combat. But i cant trade in it.

Well, If you're fine with hauling cargo, why not?
If you want to keep fighting, I'd say use your Vulture a little longer. Get at least 150 for a combat Python. About 200 for A grade. About 300 for A grade and bulkheads.

In RES you can earn money fast in a Vulture.

EDIT: Oh and if you want just a stronger combat ship, I think Fer De Lance is a lot cheaper to A grade than a Python.

For me the python is the daddy of mulitrole ships

it is an equivalent hauler to the type 7 (not sure why because.................. see point 2)
it can land at medium bases
it can be armed for hunting
it handles fairly well.

for the multi rile players I see ED logical progression as

adder - cobra/diamond back ex - asp - python

however if you are not interested in trading and prefer a more agressive play then you already have a great tool for the job imo, with a far cheaper rebuy cost.

either way though if you play in open i would save a few more pennies before getting your python.

how fast can i get those money if i trade with the python? my money comes like 30 mil from rare run in a asp..and I never do that again. and like 10 mil normal trade in a typ7, but that ship got on my nervs. every time i get stoppad I allmost die evertime. Rest of my money i have erned on combat and bounty hunting. But of course the fun part, was to trade and build your ship up in a slow pace as i did in the asp. Its was very fun to see that you have the money for the next part of the ship. but it takes time!

Obviously the Python is a multi-purpose ship, so you can fit it for combat or trade or you can even set up a combat/trading configuration that allows you to do both.

Python is a great ship and can pack a decent punch while having a lot more cargo space than the Vulture, which means you'll be making more profits per run.

For me, Python is always a good choice but it obviously depends in your own taste. Bear in mind that you'll be needing a lot of cash to kit it properly so I advise you to make numbers prior to making the decision.

Good luck;

It can carry 60 more units than a Type 7, can land on outposts, better jump range, can escape interdiction attempts (no more submit and jump away), faster boost. The Python is way more than the equivalent of a Type 7, it puts it in the shade. I would say it actually can compete with a Type 9 for creds per hour.

Yeah. I always buy ships and use that ship to upgrade it, it's a really fun way to play. If you buy a ship and A-spec it before you lave the dock you lose any sense of progression. I also find you don't develop a connection with the ship, and it's nice to feel it grow over time.

Python is a no brainer. You can play as a real space nomad, doing trading, combat and missions all with the same loadout. If you want to PVP with it you'll need to respec, but otherwise it's possible to dominate at npc combat and still have over 200 tonnes of cargo with one build. I had a trade spec clipper and a fer de lance, and it got really old having to taxi between them when I wanted to change activities.

Also, due to the (imo) awful shield cell bank meta, Python is actually a better combat ship than pure combat ships, so like I said, it really is a no brainer. I wish there were good side grades to it, as it's currently the best choice of ship for pretty much anything except exploring. Only downside is it's not that fun to fly, at least not compared to the FDL, Vulture or fighter ships.

Agree here.

i had same money when I went to python.
it would be worth upgrading the FSD and power distributer to Max. And you will be close to that.

Python is now my main ship for most things.
My basic well defended trader has 248t cargo 500+MJ shields enough to stop most players before I can easy jump away.

Current config 85mil+, as not completely A rated as not need for most uses.

I bought the Python after i was using Vulture for a while and after that the Dropship.. I completley had the ships max pimped also the python.. and no, the python i had 2 days and sold it and got me again the dropship.. the maneuverability of the python is horrible compared to the dropship.. it has no gearing to the sides, its only flying where the nose is pointing.. as soon you fly over 160ms you cant turn your ship anymore, it feels like a brick.. where the dropship just pointing its nose where you want it.. no matter how fast the ship goes, the nose always turns the same rate in any direction, the whole ship just starts to drift.. same with the vulture, its actually a nice drifting ship. but the python by far dont bring that fun in flying it..

the only pro the python has is the loadout you can fit. you can have 2 B5 shield banks, hatchbraker A3, Collector A3, 128t cargo, B4 Refinery, A2 interdict etc etc.. so you have everything in one.. but its fly style just sucks. but thats just my taste.. everyone has its own taste tbh :)

Well I thought the Python handeling was disappointing untill I put in an A grade power distributer. I currently have C thrusters and the Python is lovely to fly even when compared to the clipper. It was a brick untill then. I am assuming further improvement with better thrusters. I am really confused that you think the dropship handheld better? But I've never flown one, it's just what I have picked up on the forums.

Keep the Vulture, its such a good combat ship with low repair and rebuy costs. Always good to have a good fallback when you get low on cash.
Personally i keep all ships and leave em most of the time in A grade stored away later. Its actually more fun to choose some other ship and fly around with that for a bit.

I fly all ships only if i can pimp them to the max.. so my python had all A fitted.. And no its by far not as agile as the Dropship.. as i said, the dropship is pointig its nose always where you wanna have with max speed, no matter how fast your ship is moving in one direction.. the python dont.. as soon you fly over 160ms your turning up and down turns into .. yeah it might have 7sec for 360° when standing, but as soon you fly this 7sec can turn with max speed into 30sec for a 360° and the real poor one is.. even when you put FA off it just dont care.. you fly to fast you dont turn in a python.

edit:

and yes the vulture is a good pvp ship.. depending how you fly.. for example it can reach 840 armor by having 340 shields as buffer, like that you will fly a drifting pro that has 2 heatsinks when shields are gone.. you stealth around ;-)
or you fly an A4 shield gen, with a B5 cell bank and having 340 buffer + 5x 160 reload...

Vulture good Combat ship? Maybe in PvE heheee. Try a dropship or clipper for now :p

yes... pve...i avoid pvp so mutch i can...i suck sooooo badly in it. and everyone use shieldbanks as is was no tomorrow. not fun with pvp.

I get both pro and con about the python. I think i will keep my vulture a little longer. get atleast 10 more mil before buying the python. Seems that A thruster are allmost a must what i understand.

Everyone has done this I think so remember when you sell your Vulture, find a place that has the mirrored armor (or any armor) so you can sell it back first. If you start selling all your modules you'll be left with bare bones and realize you cannot sell your mirrored hull, so you'll have to buy everything back and find another station.

But yeah, no reason to not buy one. If you like BHing, stay in the Vulture. I found that was why I played, because I loved the Vulture and I have bought no fewer than 10 of these over the time I've been playing (this or that system). So you'll end up getting the Vulture back if you value BHing over hauling and such even though the Peee-thun is a decent BHing build.

IMHO, keep the Vulture.
Then wait till you can buy 2 (preferably 3, but I got impatient) Pythons before buying one so you can upgrade it at least moderately. Don't forget to keep money back for insurance and cargo.

just be aware that you need around 100-120mil to have an enjoyable fit on the python.. there might be less expansive ones, for example trade, but its awesome ship when it comes to missions.. you can do mining missions, hunting missions, trading missions all in one and still having 2 B5 scb. but its for sure no fun ship to fly...

It's probably the best ship in the game. It's less FOTM than before since the nerf. But still quite good. A lot of power and good hardpoint make it very good. But it's sound bleh and move bleh.

While I think the most fun ship to fly is the clipper. The best ship to fly is the Python.

With the right trade route, I can easily make 4-5M CR per hour in my python. If you enjoy trading in the game, I say maybe earn a little more of a cash float for insurance and cargo costs and go for it. If you prefer combat, while the extra firepower on the python is nice, I greatly prefer the maneuverability and "tankiness" of my vulture and regularly swap ships when I feel like getting into a furball.
