Margin calls are causing traders to liquidate their profitable assets ( gold) to cover unprofitable ones. You can grab up gold at a discount while it lasts, last chance for awhile? Maybe...
If you really want to make, short stocks, use the $ to buy the gold. That's a leveraged posture though.

Roughly 60-70% of my portfolio is gold, so even with today's drop I'm good. Roughly around Q2, when Q1 earnings are out, I will probably sell gold and start shopping.

The only reason I'm also down 10% vs. last week is because of the Virgin Galactic rollercoaster. As an (ex) Elite player, I had to take and hold positions on a general principle (my avg price is around $12, so I'm still good). :)
Actually, I'd be pretty satisfied if I wasn't burned by shorting Tesla earlier.
