A lot of the new functions aren't bound by default. You can see how I bound mine at: https://www.mcdee.net/elite/binds/zgsirg and use that as a reference for some of the basic camera bindings.
I still don't have it set where I can move the camera around in free mode like I used to be able to do prior to 2.3.

You can use the free cam from any of the mentioned 1-9 positions, so you can just go for the appropriate cockpit one (not in game currently but 4 or 5 should be the default for a close pilot shot) and activate free cam, then position it to get a good shave.
