Can we get a revamp on the explosions effects?

Hi, all in elite suit my taste but i think we could get an upgrade (or graphical revamp) about explosions.
They are nice about the beginning: i like how ships start to explode a bit everywhere to finally get a big explosion.
But about explosions themselves, i think they are now a bit outdated. It would be very nice to get a revamp about them more contemporary of today's technology.

Gosh I love them. The sound, fire, smoke, and debris everywhere, bouncing off the cockpit glazing, I've had some awesome experiences with that stuff. >BOOM< and in the words of Leo... target destroyed.
 
The trouble with updating perfectly good explosions is the danger of something stupid like those flat expanding rings like they added to the Death Star explosion. Yes it was a new special effect but it is so silly in space where the explosion is going to go in all directions.
 
I feel like the explosions themselves are mostly fine but I'd like the debris field to be a bit chunkier. If I blow up an FDL, I'd like the wreck to still resemble an FDL. You can see this in the signal sources that spawn where you can still plainly identify the charred hulks of Eagles and Cutters, but the wrecks resulting from our own handiwork look nothing like that. It's really noticeable for larger ships like the Anaconda that just seem to evaporate upon destruction.
 
As i said explosions actually are not bad. But in my opinion a bit outdated. There are some effects with years that can be applied to render them outstanding.
And maybe sound can also be improved but it is not so bad actually.
 
What kind of effects? What's outdated with them? Maybe a little more description of what you're thinking.
 
I've realized that the main problem is the uniformity of the overall color. the explosion is a little too orange overall.

You mean like the effects thargoid interceptors do when they explode?
 
The Anaconda is the only one ship which is currently showing hull damage and small explosions for a while, until it gets destroyed.

It was planned that all ships should have had similar textures and effects... another unfinished thing in the game.
I think the amount of work scared FD really. One of the things I was looking forward to in the KS was the prospect of having big holes all over.
 
I don't enjoy that particular aspect of the 'conda when flying it because the way it was implemented turned out to be rather silly. Dipping below certain hull% thresholds caused a large "popping" effect that significantly obscures the pilot's vision. How it should have been implemented is that the threshold should have been divided into many, much smaller segments so that individual chunks of armor fly off in succession after a couple of hits rather than all at once. The way things stand, repairing yourself above the "popping" threshold with limpets causes you to re-explode, but this time to put all the armor back on :\
