Modes Can we get more players into Open Play?

Common Robert, you can do more than this, I specifically said PVP content, not just PVP.

There is no content dedicated to direct PvP in the game (with the exception of CQC, which is arguably not in the game) as game features are not limited to a single game mode and, as we know, all players both experience and affect game features regardless of game mode - there are, however, features that offer opportunities for consensual PvP for players that choose to play in a game mode that offers them the opportunity to encounter each other (if on the same platform, of course).

Yet you keep saying Power Play was made for direct PvP pew pew, despite it not rewarding it at all plus folks in Solo able to play without any PvP.

I've told you that 3 times, plus Robert has twice. You seem rather fond of loops form my point of view.

PVP content is currently blocked by Private modes. You can check the other threads where there is a lengthy discussion about this.

You can PvP all you like in Open and in any PG. No one is blocking you from consensual player to player combat.
What we are blocking is griefing.

Is that what you really want? You upset you cannot go around griefing others?

Sorry, i have read some of the other threads, but i don't see how PvP is blocked by private modes. I hear stories of people doing PvP all the time. I'm part of a PvP discord where they are always talking about the great PvP they are having.

Maybe you have a problem with your installation if you can't get PvP....

It still doesnt solve the issue of by passing PVP, why would a player bother themselves with high level opponents such as pvp outfitted ship, where he can jump to solo and just keep on doing PP. Extra merits for cmdr kill wont solve anything.

Unrelated to bullying (just the term bullying in a video in a game is a funny concept in itself), if you engage in PP you cannot be griefed/bullied/harassed (any other SJW word), you also shouldnt be able to bypass a PVP territory war whether you are being a trader/scout/data delivery/combatant.

Surely there would be other capable PvP players in PvP outfitted ships seeking a challenge?

Yes in theory, but we all know that there will be some abusers that when things go really bad for them they will jump to solo, its just a safety path that exists to anyone at anytime, thats the main issue with it, when people loose they will try to find a way to exploit something, this "exploit" shouldn't be available for them.

Just imagine a football (soccer) game where there is an additional empty field with an empty goal and any team can go to that field during the match and score into that empty goal.
What do you think will happen? Are we going to have a fair football match?

So power play has always had a slightly uneasy connection with the main rules and this will hopefully allow us to make power play more focused on what it is: a consentual pvp system. I mean that is the heart of power play. We want players from different super powers to be combating each other in various ways.

make sure the police dont come in and just take away all the fun from the consentual pvp, right? Cuz who wants the police joining in all the time when you want to fight other human players? Thats what Power Play is meant to be for.

But no, I dont think any of the current suggestions involve armed gunmen showing up at your house and "forcing" you to play elite dangerous in open.

It will remain a completely optional part of life like it is now.

Forced in terms of removing access to existing bought and paid for content from Solo and Private Groups. We've been through that a few times now.

PvP remains consensual in PowerPlay - there's no requirement to engage in direct PvP to participate in PowerPlay - especially as it can be participated in from any of the three game modes.

Which means there is no PVP content if you can by pass it. The whole PVP content is not just 1v1 consensual fights, its territory war where you are forced to be engaged in direct PVP, THAT is a PVP content. If its optional, there is no point having it, and PP proved it.
