Hayo vanoledzen ol marlo ooma! (I hope I got "developers" right...)
Staying at home due to the Coronavirus has me getting back into the game, since I have time to spare, and I'm actually looking forward to spending more of my time amongst the Planco-speaking folks in my parks. I love building parks, creating rollercoasters and decorating every last square-centimer.
However, there is still one qualm I have with the game, one detail that I can't get over, after all this time.
Loading and unloading guests from roller coasters takes too long. Not that guests walk too slow, but it just makes no sense... once a full train enters the station, the guests exit the train, walk out of the exit and only once the very last one has left the station and the exit gates have closed behind him do the entrance gates open. This basically makes people wait in front of an empty train for quite some time, although it really looks like they should be able to enter, there is no one in their way - this gets especially frustrating when unloading guests to the other side of the platform - why can't the new guests enter the train as soon as the unboarding guests have cleared the train (instead of the station)?
Can this please be fixed?
I know this would directly affect riders per hour and thus income as well as wait times, since you'd be able to funnel a lot more people through the coaster in the same time span, but this could be remidied by a) lowering coaster prices/guest's tolerance for high prices and b) lowering guest's tolerance for longer wait times to get everything balanced again.
I also know some people care about riders per hour being realistic, like in the real world, and with the current model riders per hour seems to be realistic. So maybe, quicker loading/unloading like suggested above could be optional, and switched on or off in the game's settings?
Lastly, why do I care about this so much?
Honestly, to me (and I think several others), Planet Coaster is great to look at and similar to building a miniature wonderland. It's great to see everything move and I LOVE seeing multiple carts/trains hurtling along the tracks. Especially on coasters that feature smaller carts, e.g. Wild Mouses or log flumes more carts on the track is just more beautiful, if you ask me. I want it to look busy, I want parts to move! But the slow loading of trains/carts really infringes on that. Even for longer coasters, this often leads to only two or three carts on the track at the same time, with multiple carts sitting idly in the station, being unloaded/loaded. It just frustrates me, since it seems like this could pretty easily be fixed. It also looks super unrealistic, with visitors standing by and forced to wait like idiots behind closed gates although no one is in their way and the carts could be loaded already. With parks in reality trying to get as many riders per hour, this even seems non-sensical from the point of park management. A train that is sitting idly is a train that doesn't make money... I know it seems weird to care about this so much, but this one small detail so greatly impacts what I love most about the game - watching everything in motion - that it frustrates me any time I load up another game. So please, dear devs, can you fix that? Thanks for all you do!
