Can we protect ships? YES we can...

It is the opinion of some that it is not possible with gameplay to save Commander ships from insurance if they are attacked.
We think that this is one of the most interesting facets of our gameplay.

One of the local Griefer and Ganker in the Wyrd sector waited for his prey.
With jumping in his attack instances it was possible to safe two ships and finally he was chased away and didnt come back.

I cant see any message here besides what RoA always say. Be prepared , fly no paper ship and you can avoid any gank .

As you can see in the video the ganked outlaw could easy jump away under fire of 2 ships ......so it only proves that ganks can be countered easy . Well done .....Outlaw

I was just thinking about this, "Escorts don't work in ED" nonsense. Why not? I could see a wing of four - one cargo hauler, one support ship with healing beams and defense screens focused on keeping the hauler (not literal Hauler, more like a Type-9) alive, and two PvP combat ships offering plenty of protection to allow the hauler to travel safely from point A to point B. I don't see how griefers could get past this, assuming the numbers were relatively equal and the defending pilots know what they are doing.

I agree as long as we talk about one griefer ( btw i think the griefer would be more interrested in fighting the escorts :) )
An outlaw wing could only be countered with massive troops on the other side cause the police pilots can not stand against their skill in equal numbers ......

This is the dream isn't it. Now we just need compelling in game reasons to do this!

If only there was a suggestion of clan-like based affiliations that could conduct activities in a PvP environment to expand or attack other player based clan-like affiliations where, for example, delivering items or preventing delivery of such could influence aforementioned expansion.

Helping newer players seems like a good reason to me. Obviously the veterans will be hauling in their God-Cutters and won't need escorting, but once I can afford my Type-9, I'd sign up for an escort if someone wanted to do that, and I'd enjoy escorting other players in a similar boat.

There's not IIRC, any trade CGs running at the moment, but I'll try and sort out some convoys again once there are, prolly on the Discord server.

Though on the other hand, I'd just as likely do my hauling in Solo mode rather than go through all the fuss of organizing an escort, so I see your point.

I did run a convoy a couple of years ago (named after Convoy PQ-17) and had a couple of participants, it's the usual story of timezones, players commiting and not turning up etc.

That said, I wasn't a member of any established player group so that probably didn't help.

In my view, escorting ships through hostile territory shouldn't focus on the normal space instance. Your job is to the handle the highway to the destination, aka supercruise. Planning for a fight is planning for "too late."

So interdict the interdictors? Reminds me of dialing a gate to prevent someone else from dialing in.

That's thinking along the right lines.

These days, if I'm escorting someone (like an explorer), I'll have them go first toward the destination. If an enemy shows up, I'll actually interdict the ship I'm escorting. They then submit, get a quick FSD cooldown, and can bail out of the system entirely. Then I can jump back up, evaluate the situation, and go from there.

SPEAR is offering escorts. we have people in our community who did this for years. and yes @Phisto Sobanii is right here. sometimes its too late if the action goes to normal space.
the biggest event we fulfilled sucessfully in the past was the protection of 30 explorer ships in the INRA event.

for pilots who are interested use this link for a request for escort tasks.

The attackers would simply ignore the escorts until the softest target was destroyed or able to wake away. Healing beams could give a little more time or be of some distraction, but focus was always easy to achieve and has gotten even easier and more effective as the game has evolved.

For a ship that needs an escort, I'd agree.

Better than a single load of cargo in one fragile ship is four loads of cargo in four strong ships, each capable of taking care of itself.

Preemptive interdictions are pretty common.

Let me get this straight.

Borbi (an opportunity Ganker) pulls in Shinratha (a designated PvP area) with a Krait an Anaconda .

It is thus a 1vs1 situation in which the Anaconda is clearly in the advantage because she could leave at any time completely problem-free the fight.

You jump to it and open the fire on Borbi completely without danger to you . He remains , in contrast to so some other pilots, until the end .....although he had more than enough time to disappear. And that should be a proof for " successful escort " ?

Interesting point of view .

There one could also say that the doors of the elevator open due to respect and not because I press the button

the anaconda Pilot was AFK, he told me later. I know, it´s a suicide to leave your ship AFK in Shinrarta, I told that commander to not do that again..

Apart from that, it was a "JumpConda" and Borbi was wanted for his criminal actions, so it was perfectly legal to hunt him.

Yo tell It was no danger for me... well, I didn´t know if Borbie was going to fire on me (or not) when I went into the signal. He could just have gone, but he wanted the kill.
