I'm still getting adjudication server errors consistently. Solo mode.
They may be operating on AWS servers, but they've not paid for elasticity, or the game isn't built to scale out... In theory, AWS should spin up more instances to cope with extended load (if configured properly). To have a multiplayer online game that can't apparently cope with 10,000 players attempting to log on is a bit poor really.
What happens if everybody loves the update and want to play ED every evening?
Then AWS (FD's cloud provider) will scale up servers to manage it.
There's always hiccups after a major update.
Why?
Software and networking are hard and even with testing it is easy for there to be unexpected problems uncovered once there are more eyes and higher stress on everything.
So I have a fair bit of sympathy.
That said I'm also pretty miffed this is taking as long as it is to fix - I would have expected scaling up sever capability would have been relatively painless. Aparently not.. Hopefully they can figure out what the problem is and have it sorted by the weekend.
I left the game on overnight. I'm still sitting on the pad.
I hope everyone else's problems are resolved quickly.
So does the tradition/saying need to change from "Never fly on Patch Day" to "Never fly on Patch Week"?
The trick is to start playing ED again after an update just as all the whingers, moaners and rage quitters have hung up the ED pilots boots, i'd give it a day or two yet, as from the forums there are still some die hard whingers hanging on in there moaning about how ED has ruined their life and FD are the worst programmers and developers this side of the black stump. I reckon see the weekend out and all the toys will be out of their prams, it will be good to go back.
As a moaner myself I can tell you that most of that is true but simply not complete. While many of us enjoy the new stuff (I'm a PvPer and the new exploration overhaul is amazing) it drains my motivation in seconds when I see server errors that have been more than obvious after a months ahead announced latch and a 9 hour server downtime. OFCOURSE all players are trying to connect at the same time. It was obvious and they didn't take any steps to proactive counter act this. Not even a login queue or a block for players not ingame to atleast guarantee smooth gameplay for the already playing players.
Or just spend money already in servers. I've seen it myself, live. It's really not that hard and expensive to rent a bunch of servers for a short period of time to deal woth the sudden but expected peak of players. Or upgrade the server capacity overall. More expensive but works too. You can always add more hardware. But doing absolutely nothing and not even stating any detailed information is just poor respect towarda the customers.
As long as you're in open mode, it should be fine.
Open Only Pad Sitting! #OOPS
