Can't join wing in private?

Okay so I have a couple of friends in a private session, we're all online and whether I/they send a request to one another, no-one recieves the wing request.. I've tried doing a few tricks which people have said can work, like messaging the commander first, trying in supercruise, being in their system etc etc. About a week ago, we never had this problem, whether we were close or far, we could always join the wing.. but recently, it's just not playing ball.

Nothing has given any results, the only thing I could find is that we may not be in the same instance? which I'm guessing was an Open issue, would this affect a private wing?

I've looked on the net, and tried some fixes, but nada. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something or not... I just don't understand XD

What always worked for me, was if we got into the same instance before trying to wing. For instance, all dock at "Smith" station. We can all see one another, wing invites, it works.

-sometimes it is a matter of hard resetting the Xbox as well.

Also, I've never played in private, but I imagine the wings work the same as open.

We've tried docking in the same place, and with one person staying in their "instance" we tried re-logging many times, yet we never found our companion sitting in the dock waiting for us, nor each other for that matter. I've tried hard resetting, so have my wingmen, though this doesn't seem to do much good either.

I'm just wondering if their is some bug with private, but I imagine there are some pretty HUGE private groups out there who don't have this problem, I'm just at a loss, playing whilst not in a wing is feeling very foreign to me at the moment XD

My friends and I are having trouble with this recently. Last night I noticed we were clearly not in the same instance as we were both in the same station with different missions, no sign of each other in contacts etc. Sporadically it seemed to work after an hour or so - but then I lost connection in a jump and we were back to square one.

We have also tried relogging... that appeared to fixed it once but I generally found it didn't help.
We have tried open and private groups... didn't seem to make any difference either.
Mostly we just can't seem to send wing invites. Sometimes we can send then and they are not received. Strangest of all - my friend did accept the wing invite and from his perspective had successfully joined but no sign of a wing for me.

Likewise, about a week ago, everything just worked.

Sometimes it helps to 'push' the wing request through with a voice comms request...it's an old fix from GPP, but still works on occasion.

I have a friend that has his own PG,sometimes I join him and it can be a nightmare.
It is as if the RNG has crept into PG wing requests.
Don't think you will find a solution to this problem, unless of course you are very LUCKY.

Thanks, I will give that a try when I have a hanging wing request, and we do see that a lot. Sadly it often doesn't always get as far as the wing request for us - the request instantly drops back to contacts.

I have also found that sending and receiving text messages with you friend before sending the wing request can get it working.

I'll have a play later, currently I'm doing errands.... yay, so much fun these errands are giving me... Please don't let it stop (sarcasm fyi)

I will try that push message trick when I return.

I get this sometimes when trying to wing with my alternate user to transfer engineers cargo in PG. It doesn't happen every time and sometimes I can invite to wing from one user but not the other and sometimes neither can. Usually logging both users out again and back in fixes it..

Best is when the instances start the same but at some point completely diverge. You're watching your wingmate shoot thin air, he's apparently targeting your system, and for all you know it's pretty much either a bad light show or the equivalent of their ship having a fit.

OP, are you and all your intended wingmates using a wired connection? Do you all have open nat?

I find wifi causes terrible issues with instancing. Yeah yeah, i know what you are thinking "MY wifi works perfect" But it doesnt. Just because the issues caused arent immediately visible 100 percent of the time doesnt mean they arent screwing you in the background

I NEVER have instancing issues with established friends with wired connections and open nat.

When i meet new people and start having instancing problems with them my first question is always "are you using Wi-Fi" The answer is almost always yes

I could go into an explanation, proved by experimentation but it would take too long. If you were interested feel free to p.m. me but it's all boring jargon.

Im not empirically stating that this is your issue. What I can state is I have solved 100% of instancing issues with friends by getting them to plug in a wire and configure their Network properly

Quick troubleshooting list:

1. Check NAT types of all players are Open under network settings
2. Send Voice Comms request before sending wing invites
3. All players shutdown xBox, unplug power. Unplug internet routers for 10 secs, then power all devices back up.
4. repeat steps 1 & 2
5. Rage at xbox/frontier network solution.

Doesn't work even after all this.
Myself and friends are wired, DMZd the Xbox One on Router, never have Xbox on "Instant On", hard cycle it every time we turn off and now even voice comes don't get through.
