Newcomer / Intro Can't max out my Eagle due to power problems

I tried to set up an Eagle with all A modules inside for bounty hunting... but ran into power problems:

[Maxed Out Eagle]

S: 1G/G Burst Laser
S: 1G/G Multi-cannon
S: 1G/G Multi-cannon
U: 0E Kill Warrant Scanner

BH: 1I Military Grade Composite
RB: 2A Power Plant
TM: 2A Thrusters
FH: 2A Frame Shift Drive
EC: 1A Life Support
PC: 2A Power Distributor
SS: 2A Sensors
FS: 2C Fuel Tank (Capacity: 4)

3: 3A Shield Generator
2: 2E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 4)
1: 1A Shield Cell Bank

Power usage with weapons deployed is at 111 %.... I can only turn off frame shift drive and cargo hatch but am still over 100 %.... anybody got any ideas? Is it really impossible to max out an Eagle like that?

I think your problem is the shield cell bank. THey increased the power usage last update so a lot of old loadouts dont work anymore. So it seems to be impossible with that loadout. You have to get rid of the shield cells (or get one that requieres less power) or you could switch your burst laser for another multi-cannon.

Yeah some things will give you power issues, which is just part of the game. Modules aren't designed with any particular ship in mind. I.e. the designers of A class modules aren't thinking 'better tone it back a bit so that Eagles can use it'.

I would lower Life Support and Sensors to D, then turning off the FSD and cargo hatch should bring you below 100% while allowing you to keep your 1A cell-bank and weapons

Thanks, but I already tried that, and am still over 100%. Really looks like I need to go without a shield cell... rely on my maneuverability. Gives me space for a Frame shift drive interdictor.

With this page you can fiddle around freely weapon, ship, configs, and you can see with actual numbers how much your shield has a "shield" etc.etc, highly recommeded to all of who are not aware of this.

Thanks, I already know all the online tools and use it regularly to see what I can do. I noticed the 111% power usage in the eliteshipyard first and went into the game to test whether I can compensate that with power management... but it was impossible. Not using a shield cell bank seems to be the only option for this loadout to work.

Shield cells now are a major power issue, since everyone complained about how they were OP and were 'magic shield potions'.

Yeah I thought about how I would never head out into adventure without a health potion at hand in a fantasy game, and shield cells were basically the same... so I wanted to have one installed just in case. Seem the Eagle has to rely on its agility though... God help me :D

I had to run with a 2D cell to get 2 Pulse and 1 Cannon I think...it can be done but the Cell isn't good enough to refill the 3A shields any longer. Obviously the 1D Life Support and maybe even sensors too.

One word

Compromise

running out and fitting all A grade modules is not the way.... might work in FPS games but not this baby

1A Life support ..... plleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaase - why ?... just not needed... if you can't get back to a outpost or starport in 7.5 mins with a D class ... give up

nor 2A sensors ..... you'll be in close with the eagle so no long... long range sensors are needed.... same with KWS.... 3Km range is more than enough

I say, if your using gimballed weps; its a good idea to use A grade sensors so that you get more rat-a-tat-tat :)

i thought it was a heat issue ???

nope they have a range limit way lower than A grade sensors and rely on heat signature ... tis why dropping heat sinks as well as chaff will confuse gimballed weapons :)... and as already stated you should be tight on the targets six in a Eagle not long range rat-a tat-tating :)

As others have said, the game forces you to compromise with your module choice.

In an Eagle you should be relying on you agility and speed. Agility and speed, and a cunning choice of weapons. Agility, speed, a cunning choice of weapons, and choosing the right target. Agility, speed, cunning weapons, the right target, and the fluffy cushions...

In your position, I'd compromise on the shield cells (reduce it to a D or ditch it), sensors (D for those, llife support (anything more than a weight saving D is pointless), and I'd also switch from all gimbled weapons to using fixed lasers. My Eagle is equipped with fixed beam and gimballed multicannon which works well for me.

Remember, agility. If you rely on shields against a Viper/Cobra/Asp then you should rethink your strategy. Loose your shields in an Eagle and your opponent will open you up like a tin can.
