Capture points

Something that’s always bothered me in this game is how unless you are absolutely dominating (which is easy to do after a while) that you never really feel like you’re actually making any progress. If you fail to sweep the AI for any reason you’re sent back to where you started. And even when you sweep the enemy they usually have more than one star so you end up having to repeat the same map and the same assaults in the same direction repeatedly.

It be nice if taking and holding an enemy trench during one battle lets you keep that trench next time you deploy in the same tile. Maybe have zones of control around objective markers that lets you build there if you capture and hold it.

This would give both players and ai new angles to attack from instead of just frontal assaults. Which will then have the AI rotate their trenches to face directions other than just forwards like they currently do.

Maybe by sweeping a tile from one side it automatically switches enemy objective markers on maps when attacking the same tile from a different direction. To represent a flank being overrun.

I’d love to make a mod that does exactly that but I don’t have the digital tools, or the knowledge, or the skills to do it myself even with the modding tutorial pdf’s made by the developers.
