The Colonia Citizens Network celebratory event at Colonia Hub
Upon the completion of Colonia Hub, CCN held a vote on whether to adopt the new base as the in-game symbolic headquarters of the CCN, and the Colonia Council faction as the favoured NPC faction of CCN (should its members wish to engage in the Colonia background simulation).
On Sept. 15th 3302, the vote ended with 82% in favour of the proposal and 18% against.
As such, this proposal has been adopted by the CCN as of September 16th 3302.
Please note that this is a semi-roleplayed story arc.
CCN seeks to be a community free of political in-fighting and petty squabbles over finite resources and power, as we all have infinity on our doorstep. As such, we will not be embracing Powerplay. However, the background simulation (BGS) is the mechanism by which players affect the game world, and it can't be ignored - not least because every player group active in Colonia will be engaging with it. Therefore we feel it is appropriate to allow players to support CCN through in-game actions, should they wish - which is why we've adopted the Colonia Council as the favoured NPC faction.

Announcement (15 Sept 3302) :
Dr Kaii, Obsidian Ant, Souvarine, and Erimus have been in discussion with Zac today regarding CCNs role within Colonia.
As you are aware, CCN was set up to bring cooperation and coordination to many of the individuals who helped the colony foundation take shape. A place that helped promote the colonist identity, a place where the civilian population could come together, interact, and socialize on many different projects. Despite the lack of coverage by official channels, we've been assured that this endeavor didn't go unnoticed. To cut a long discussion with FD short, Colonia Hub and Colonia Council are the in-game nod to the pioneer colonists who have worked on this project since the beginning. We did suspect this at the time of the Hub's appearance but weren't quite sure. We've been assured that this is the case.
Additionally, Colonia Council are the neutral faction of Colonia. It is a permanent faction - meaning that it cannot be ousted.
Last week CCN proposed a vote to adopt Colonia Hub as its 'symbolic home'. We no longer need to use the word symbolic - Colonia Hub is the in-game home of CCN, and Colonia Council its associated faction!
In the long term what does this mean? It means that individual colonists who do not want to be associated with power blocs or player run factions that are coming to Colonia, still have a rallying point - a neutral NPC faction that is the face of CCN in-game. Whatever FDs final decision is on the proposal they made via the group leader email, CCN colonists (and individuals not associated with CCN) will have a place in Colonia!
Colonia Hub will act as the focal point for all CCN activities; from where colonial expeditions will be launched, a place where the Colonia Militia will be based (unless FD accept our proposal to build a dedicated HQ for the militia), and the place where all colonizing groups can come and become signatories to the mutual defence pact of Colonia if they so choose.
The CCN Custodians
To celebrate this achievement, CCN will be holding a ceremony at Colonia Hub - details below! Twitch Stream
Date : Sunday 18th Sept.
Time : 17:00 Gametime
Private Group : Fleetcomm
The ceremony will include a flyby of several Colonia Militia Forces squadrons, as well as a celebratory SRV jaunt around the hub itself by all attendees, should they wish to join in.
Everyone is encouraged to bring plenty of chaff (if you have it), and deploy it during the flyby!
There will also be a short speech made by Etiene Denain - founder of the Twin Candles (the initiative to ship families of slaves out to Colonia during the August Exodus and free them at Jaques station to start life anew, free and equal). Compatriot Dalilah William may also say a few words too.
Its been a busy three month journey: from the moment Jaques was discovered and Michael Brookes' hint that player actions could forge what happens out in Colonia, to this very moment in time. Hundreds of players representing multiple groups, from across the Empire, Federation, Alliance, and independent worlds, have for the first time set aside political ideologies and agendas and banded together to create something unique out here, 22,000 light years from humanities' birthplace.
A colonial identity has finally been born, and Colonia Hub and the Colonia Council are to be its in-game face.
We encourage all colonists and visitors to the Colonia Nebula to join us for the ceremony. For those who can't make it, there will be a Twitch stream. o7
