A call to all groups seeking to establish a presence in the Colonia Nebula

Over the summer several hundred pilots arrived at Jaques Station as part of a concerted effort to establish a second foothold for humanity there. On Monday 22nd August, the Colonia Citizens Network (CCN) was launched to provide a structure for the Colonial society.

At the time of writing the CCN numbers over 1,500 colonists, with more joining every day. It has it’s own newspaper, events schedule and dedicated wings for prospecting, mapping, tourism and trading, as well as a security force made up of participants in the Jaunt to Jaques as well as other independent pilots who have earned a place.

CCN is not a group - it is a network of groups active in the Colonia Nebula. As such it is diplomatically neutral, endorses no political agenda and is an entirely civilian enterprise.

In these tense times, the Colony is very vulnerable. Most colonists are peaceful explorers and miners; in the event of a hostile first contact incident, a coordinated response between those armed groups present could be the only thing that ensures its survival.

Many
groups have already pledged their support--representing the Empire, Federation, Alliance and Independents--and have joined with the Colony’s own security team (The Twin Candles) to create the Colonia Militia Forces - a joint task force of different military groups coordinating over security and defence of the Colony.

The current signatory groups of the Colonia Militia Forces are (in no order):

GalCop
The Imperial Expeditionary Force
The Earth Expeditionary Fleet
The Iridium Wing
The LOSP
The Children of Raxxla
SEPP
The Corsarios de Heimdal
The Prismatic Imperium
The Terran Colonial Forces
Explorer On Tour
The Galactic Combat Initiative

We call for all other military groups planning on establishing a presence out here to join the Colonia Militia Forces.

Those participating groups will be present on CCN and be able to make use of CCN’s infrastructure. Your group will remain distinct and recognised, and have access to a shared #colonia-militia channel with the other participating groups, as well as partake in the joint training exercises.

This is a great opportunity to present a united front to any aggressors out there, and to gain the trust of the growing civilian population that is going to be the bedrock of this new Colonial society.

Colonia Militia Forces : Operation Guardian Angel

For those that are unaware, the Scutum-Sagittarii Conflux is a region about halfway between the bubble and the Colonia Nebula. Strong hints that something is (or soon will be) placed within that region have been made via CMDR Salomé (re: The Formidine Rift mystery currently being played out by one of the Elite Dangerous official authors, Drew Wagar).

What this content is is currently unknown, other than it could be linked to 'something worse than the Thargoids'.

It could be;
Rogue AI settlements that see human commanders as kill on sight.
An unknown alien race, hostile to all those who travel through that region.
NPC outlaw bases that see civilian shipping to and from the colony as easy pickings.

Whatever it is, it could become a threat to the fledgling colony as the region mentioned is situated along the prime shipping lanes that colonists, tourists, and passenger ships will have to navigate en-route to the Colonia Nebula.

For this reason, Militia members are tasked to patrol the Scutum-Sagittarii Conflux and offer protection to any civilian vessels crossing the region via the Gagarin Gate Outpost and the Sacagawea Space Port.

Both the named basecamps can be used as a base of operations for Militia Wings operating within the Conflux.

Militia members are permitted to patrol the Outpost regions alone at this time, but post 2.2 it is advisable to patrol in wings or small groups.

Any militia member that completes a 5 day tour of the patrol zone will receive 3 merits toward the Colonial Marine Rank.

The Colonial Marine rank takes 6 merits to earn (1 merit is gained for each militia event a pilot attends).

For Colonia Militia pilots willing to take part in Operation Guardian Angel, please report your intentions to a Militia Leader within the #colonia-militia channel on the CCN server prior to departure. You will be required to patrol the region for a minimum of 5 days and report any incidents, anomalies, or hostile encounters directly to militia command. You are also expected to keep comms open (text or voice, your choice) to the civilian #distant-truckers channel on the CCN server and escort any incoming traffic through the Conflux as and when requested.

Operation Guardian Angel Guidelines :

  • Militia member contacts a Militia Leader indicating he/she is gong out on patrol. You must use the #colonia-milita channel on CCN for this.
  • When you reach one of the Outpost systems - you post a screenshot of the ingame map that shows your location and the day/time.
  • 5 days later - you post another screenshot of the ingame map at the other Outpost. This shows that you have spent 5 days in the region, and have visited both patrol zones.
  • You report any incidents to Militia Command.
  • You listen out for civilian escort requests on the CCN #distant-truckers channel and are obliged to offer assistance when required.
  • On return to Colonia you are awarded 3 merits toward the Colonial Marine Rank.
  • If you would like to take part please contact Souvarine - either by PM on here, or via the CCN server.

A proposal to the Frontier Developments Community Goal Team.

"The Colonial Militia is now made up of several groups - Alliance, Federation, Empire, and Independents - with more group applications being reviewed at this moment.

The militia is committed to defending the civilian population that now see's the Colonia Nebula as its home. For the first time, political allegiances and agendas have been put aside and groups are coming together - committing pilots to the combined Colonia Citizens Network Militia Forces - all dedicated to protecting the colony from whatever challenges lay ahead.

Players like Drew Wagar (who is joining the Colonia Nebula Project) and Obsidian Ant (who is not only a CCN Custodian, but is also making videos of the colony and promoting it via YouTube) are behind this ambitious initiative.

Frontier Community Goal Team; please consider launching a community goal that recognizes this monumental episode of player created narrative and the wealth of content that is being born out of it.

A community goal to build an outpost or surface installation that can be considered the symbolic home of the Colonia Militia Forces will be a fantastic reward for all the hard work that has gone into bringing the colony community together since the moment Jaques was discovered back in June. It also makes sense that a security outpost would precede any civilian infrastructure in such a remote and uncharted region of the galaxy.

Thank you."

A headquarters for the Colonia Militia Forces would be fantastic! And recognition for monumental decision of the groups involved to cooperate towards a higher goal. Bring on the CG!

I will make sure to include a survey of the region on my route back to the bubble. Also, having an outpost for the Militia with some nice, combat-oriented outfitting would be awesome.
