[CCN] The Christmas Carriers Convoy

Wow! I was wondering what impact it has at all. Using the neutron highway always brushes some stuff off your FSD and I usually had a repair stop when it came close to 88%. I just wonder what it actually impacts. Any experiences with FSDs on a low %? Is it decreasing fuel efficiency, or jump range, or increasing temperature when charging?
I did not really wanted to field test this on my long trip for the CCC but a commander out there might have some experiences with a damaged FSD in a lower percentage range.

My FSD failed once when I was attempting boost in a neutron star. I had not been watching the FSD condition after a lot of neutron star jumps and it suddenly came up with the message "FSD failure", and then as I exited the neutron star vortex, "FSD online", so I may have had a lucky escape. When I checked, it was down to 75% ! It took 1000 units from my Auto Repair Unit to bring it back to full health, and from now on I tend to repair it when it reaches 90%.

...and from now on I tend to repair it when it reaches 90%.

Yeah, that was me doing the same, just being cautious not knowing what might happen if I let it slip further. I repair at 90% but it slipped down to 88% yesterday and I got lucky that nothing happened.

The only mass jump was at the start. Some players meet outside the stations for some SRV havoc, but I've not heard of actual organised events along the way except the planned jump into Jacques at the end. Still lots of fun though as there are tons of players making this trip.

Actually there were meetups. At every waypoint. But no specific time, only day. There was a pretty awesome midway celebration (video incoming). And of course the upcoming arrival celebration. o7 See you there!

Between Eagle's Landing and Sacaqawea Space Port I decided to use the Neutron Highway without an AMFU. A bit over the halfway point my FSD was down to about 83%, when it started to act up. Mostly just FSD malfunction status when entering a neutron and as I come out it comes back online. A short while later the FSD got down to 79%, the malfunctions occurred more frequently and on some occasions I head to reboot the FSD (i.e. power it down dropping me out of super cruise then power it up), this seemed to fix it temporary. As I was getting closer to Sacaqawea Space Port the required reboots were becoming more and more frequent with the FSD down to 69%. Landed at Sacaqawea with 67% left. Will probably not attempt that again since it was quite a pain having to reboot the FSD the number of times I did.

Currently doing 30Ly jumps between Sacaqawea and Polo Harbour. At least to me it seems to be going a bit faster than the Neutrons, possibly due to the time required for opening and searching the Galactic Map.

Making my way on the neutron slowway to Colonia when I experienced this holy cow moment:

Weird. That link just takes me to my Youtube "my videos" page. Is my computer more screwed up than I though it was?

On the home stretch I bumped into a wonderful blackhole system that gave a beautiful halo effect of the star cluster.

my fsd is at 75 and im getting fairly constant disruptions and malfunctions , but they are never dropping me out of supercruise.

Im only getting the mishaps trying to jump out of system. And even then it usually is fine after 10 -20 seconds.

The first few times the FSD was malfunctioning I waited to see if it would come back online for a couple of minutes, it didn't. So after that I decided to try rebooting, which dropped me from super cruise, and it was good to go from then on until the next malfunction.

With the Neutron Highway serving as a possible heavily used trade route between the bubble and Colonia, perhaps a FSD will be developed that is more tuned to using neutrons.

Around a Neutron /star?

Please you have to give me the system name when you have claimed it, I have a use for rare locations.

Hoorah. My first foray into Exploration, made it to Colonia.

According to the logs I have 400 first discoveries. Sadly only 2 ELW's.

Once the event finishes, I think I will press on. Space madness? Possibly.
