[CCN] The Christmas Carriers Convoy

As one of the 6 EU beacons I had a great time (I was Beacon 5). Met some really nice people in my 19 strong beacon group. Watching 19 ships mass jump was pretty cool (I did shadow-play it from my cockpit - i was mid group so could only see about half the beacon), though only after we had formed a more aesthetic group ship launch layout. Seriously beacon 5 guys, that first formation was "fart in a strong wind". Role play sometimes had to take a back seat when we lost 2 commanders to crashes and One to a wing beacon bug, (if anyone knows a RP way to say "just re-log dude" then please let me know.

The beacon group were really polite and did their utmost to support the RP and each other. We delayed launch to allow discoed players time to come back and no-one was impatient and all were supportive.

Thanks to all in EU beacon 5. Here is a 720p version of the launch. (im using free software and 720p is max the ytube upload rez. 1080p raw file available upon request)

Well, finally back from being bothered by Real LifeTM. Has everyone left already? What? You didn't wait?

Never mind. The Fed Corvette, ROU Killing Time, is setting off and playing catch up ;)

Edit : With an 18LY jump range, this could take some time. 1000LY = 60 jumps

I wish everyone on this trip a happy and safe voyage! Sorry I'm not able to join you but I'll try and make the trip out to Jaques with goods for the CG in my own time, if I can. o7

Are most folks performing the convoy in private play or Open? My impression is private, though I myself am an open play kind of guy.

I am flying the route in open. I never got accepted into Fleetcomm, so was not able to take part despite being around during launch.

My own fault really for not arranging earlier.

But I'm glad I didn't waste my time escorting ships just to protect from npcs.

For all the effort put into planning and security it seems such a waste to then host the event in private.

I am currently en route to Jacques in open with about $160 million in passenger fares. However I will not be keeping pace with the convoy, these explorers have places to be!

I think I've missed the start, but i'm currently around 12000ly out in a sidewinder, lol could meet up on route, or switch to my main elite account and catch up with my fighter escort ship! Is this in open or private group?

The RP launches were in FleetComm, and from the amount of activity around the POIs it seems that many (most?) people are staying there.

But there was no requirement to make the flight in any particular mode. So you could very well run into participants in open or other PGs as well.

The 11000 ly (approx) point at halfway is the Sacaqawea station, which makes a great stopover if you want to meet the fleet.

As I said elsewhere, I must say the devs have done a good job in picking the location of this one. It's in a beautiful red nebula, and the approach toward the planet is very, very close to the rings of a red gas giant. Makes great photography ... I will look out a photo - but there will be plenty coming with the CCN soon !

Here is a photo of the approach to the planet (in beige) ......

The waste would have been to host it in Open with all the network and instancing difficulties it provides. The original plan was to host it in Open, but thanks to the two dry runs we spent our time doing, we had good reasons to switch to PG.

I'd suggest to keep in touch with the fleet in the Discord server and arrange meetups when we approach ;)

Qohen,

A minor editing point, but in your table on the front page of space ports, Sacaqawea should be spelt with a "Q" not a "G" :)

Qohen,

please change my role on the roster: #480, LtCmdrPAC, Freelancer, ASP explorer, SS Pheonix

And I hand in my nomination for the stupidest and dumbest thing on the CCC trip. After realizing that my 12 Ly T-9 is not cutting it and will take me ages to get to Colonia, I decided to follow the recommendation of a fellow CCN wingman to blow my ship up and return to the bubble in a Sidey, saving me 3 days of travel. Unfortunately did I not know, that the insurance is either letting you buy back your ship for some bucks, or giving you NOTHING, should you decide to return to the free Sidey. Blessed are those who can read. I lost my fully fitted T-9 Heavy, worth 240Mil, which will take me at least 6 days of mission running to get the money back in. I should have just done the jump marathon back from Hillary Depot to the bubble. I facepalm myself whenever I think of this stupid move I did. [wacky][wacko]

Sorry for leaving my support role as a Stratotanker. I hope to still be able to catch up in time. I might try the Neutron Highway to catch up.

See you out there, commander!

Thank you for your support! Fly safe!

Not what I would have recommended

But I see you're taking it in good spirit. Hope to meet you at Jaques for the Cristmas (or New Year's) party. Fly safe dangerously :D

So sorry about that LtCmdrPAC. Glad you're taking it well, E D can be tough sometimes. Keep up the good work, we'll meet there eventually. +REP

Well, like I said: always read the insurance fine print and make yourself familiar with the consequences BEFORE YOU HIT THE RED BUTTON LABELLED 'DO NOT PUSH"! This is all me and my doing (mumbling again in a facepalm gesture). I miss my T-9. We spend some awesome time on our way to Hillary Depot together. It is now a pile of rubble about a Km away form Hillary Depot. Sigh!

Sorry for your loss, CMDR. The option you took is afaik the only option for instant travel back to the bubble, the other option would just put you back at your last station, in your case Hillary Depot.
