Ran into a major problem just now!

My game disconnected and when i logged back in i was in normal space inside the cone of a neutron star! My canopy smashed and my cargo hatch broke so my cargo started leaking out. I logged back out before the ship was destroyed fully. I'm going to try and contact customer support to see if they can sort me out.

I shouldn't have been inside the cone anyway. I was finished supercharging the drive and had already started supercruising away from the star when i opened up the galaxy map to plot the next jump. I got an error saying that I "lost connection with the transaction server", and when i logged back in i was in the cone.

Sorry to hear that CMDR. The support CMDRs are a very good crew and will have you on your way asap.

In all my light years I am still yet to get my name on a ringed ELW. She looks a beauty CMDR :)

Thanks CMDR. They are rare indeed. I have still to find a ringed ELW with a close landable :)

Hello CMDRs,

Hope most are still doing fine. I just left the last basecamp (Polo Harbour) to Colonia. Systems got repaired, ship got a fresh paint, and since my bounty (oops) is now gone, I could safely land to sell my ringed ELW, just in case someone else found it too (Mine mine mine MIIIIIIINE).

Thanks to everyone posting in this thread, a pleasure to get news from everyone and all those awesome screenshots.

I won't be able to play much this week but I still should arrive at destination before the new year. Meet you there CMDRs and Godspeed :)

I left Polo Harbour last night as well in my little sidey. I pushed ahead as I won't be able to play much over the next 10 days.

Should arrive at Colonia late December :)

I am nearly in the same boat. I am able to play but I nearly never make the activities in the basecamps. I landed in Gargarin Gate on Monday to be there in time for the event today but I am in the US/CA timezone and I will not be able to get into the game before probably 2 am IGT 22.Dec.3302. I enjoy all the comments and photos on this forum and I know that there is a huge crowd on the way to Colonia but I rarely see anyone online in the instance. I always join FleetComm and the CCC Discord when flying but rarely have any interaction.

I am looking forward to Colonia when we will finally all get together.

Fly safe and I am right behind ya! :)

Made it last night almost to Michell's Legacy on the Neutron Highway but had to log off before the maintenance downtime. I set myself a goal to never log off in space (unless on a break) but to find a planet to land on for the night (my way of immersing myself into the role play of a real space pilot), I found a planet in a Neutron Star system but it had a higher gravity than I expected. My approach of the surface was unexpectedly too fast and I was afraid to crash my ship when I saw the rocks of the surface getting bigger really fast!
Lucky me that my shields were at full strength and that I had engaged the thrusters to full so I simply bounced off the surface with loosing only one shield ring. Whew!
No damage to the hull or any other component. I repaired my FSD and called it a night. I landed on a spot with a great view of the galaxy. It is so bright in this region that it looks like daylight even if the star of the system is a distant neutron star. I am glad that I followed the call for this expedition.

Fly safe, commanders! I will join you again tonight (US/CA timezone)

I've actually been doing the same! And funnily enough my last stop I also had a similar mishap. I misjudged the gravity and smacked hard into the surface, all shields down, alarms ringing and me cussing like a sailor. Thankfully the shields did take the brunt of it and it actually only damaged the hull structure and not any components.
Ho hum... Well fly safe PAC, see you at the next depot maybe!

Sure. I sat down for the night on a planet in a system back in the galactic disk after my excursion to Michell's Legacy. Paid closer attention to my speed on approach and it worked well. I checked the gravity of the one I bounced into and it was just a little above 1G. I never misjudged the approach speed like that before and I have done many planetary landings. It was just weird. I am still blown away by the level of detail when landing out in the wild. Hovering over the surface before touching down, seeing the thrusters stirring up dust, is just the little extra detail to make it seem more real. I am probably 30-40 jumps away from Polo Harbour. Will get there tonight.

I accidentally damaged many of my systems yesterday by being stupid. I was excited about Michell's Legacy and wanted to record it. I thought that I had turned on video recording but I could not figure out how I had done it before. Anyway, I thought that I had turned it on in the last neutron star system before jumping to Michell's Legacy and before supercharging. I headed towards the neutron star's stream and did not notice that I was too close to the gravitational pull of the star. I dropped out of supercruise hard and my FSD had to cool down. I tried to get away from the star but my ship overheated quite badly when I went back into supercruise. Sparks and smoke everywhere. I thought that my ship might die out there. Well, it cooled down again and I was able to continue my journey, but most of my systems are below 98%. I repaired a few (scanners, thrusters, FSD and shields) on my parking spot, but I am running low on AFMU charges. I am looking forward to dock at Polo Harbour.

Oh, and I took a spin around my ship in my SRV. My paint is now looking kind of ratchet, but hey, neutron star sailing is really fun even though it is bad for your paint job. :)

Systems below 98%? That's almost showroom quality for explorers :D

You can get as far as about 80% before effects of damage start to raise their head.

I did about 80% of my trip to Jaques with the hull down to about 50% after a similar accident.

Wow! I was wondering what impact it has at all. Using the neutron highway always brushes some stuff off your FSD and I usually had a repair stop when it came close to 88%. I just wonder what it actually impacts. Any experiences with FSDs on a low %? Is it decreasing fuel efficiency, or jump range, or increasing temperature when charging?
I did not really wanted to field test this on my long trip for the CCC but a commander out there might have some experiences with a damaged FSD in a lower percentage range.

It's an increased risk of that module failing. Techincally anything below 100% can cause random failures but at 98% the risk is very, very low. Bear in mind though that if your thrusters or FSD fail while in supercruise, that will cause an emergency drop, resulting in more damage.

I'm not missing the entire CCC! Just all the festivities (start event, mass jumping stuff, halfway celebrations) so far. I'm well on schedule, with my conda parked at Gagarin Gate.

The only mass jump was at the start. Some players meet outside the stations for some SRV havoc, but I've not heard of actual organised events along the way except the planned jump into Jacques at the end. Still lots of fun though as there are tons of players making this trip.
