National Zoo Keeper Appreciation week (here in the US at least) is coming up the third week of July (21st-27th). I know my zoo celebrates with lunches for animal care staff, but the thought I had was that since our community team has been calling us Zoo Keepers... wouldn't that be a great week for more reveals or say the beta??? I mean that would make me feel appreciated at least.
If we're the ones designing and managing the zoo aren't we curators or directors and not keepers? I'm only bringing it up because zookeepers might be responsible for animals day-to-day care but they don't really get much say in how the zoo as a whole is run. Yeh zookeepers are a better-known job, right alongside vets, but keeper have a very different role than the curators and director. Just seems weird to me.
