FSS Upgrade to Track Anomalous Signals

Pilots’ Federation ALERT

Full spectrum system (FSS) scanners are being updated with the aim of discovering the nature of the interstellar anomalies.

Cynthia Sideris, chairperson of Universal Cartographics, gave this statement to the press:

“The scientific community remains fascinated by the phenomena that we have classified as ‘rogue signal sources’. At present we can calculate their approximate direction and velocity, but otherwise they remain a mystery. We have therefore worked with several corporations to enhance the ability of ships to analyse the signals.”

“Engineers from Auger Vision, Jick Nackson Enterprises, Long Embedded Systems, LURP Ship Systems and other specialist companies collaborated to improve the long-range detection capabilities of FSS scanners. Their collaborative efforts produced a firmware upgrade that is designed to isolate these unique electromagnetic emissions.”

“By agreement with every ship manufacturer, Universal Cartographics has rolled out this free update to all FSS scanners. Our hope is that with more pilots targeting the rogue signal sources, we can triangulate their positions more accurately and, perhaps, determine their composition.”

The objects continue to travel at faster-than-light speeds between distant systems, defying all attempts to intercept them. Their appearance does not match any naturally occurring stellar bodies known to science.

So this "FSS upgrade"... did anything actually change or is this just FDEV's way of admitting they messed up moving the UIA signals for the past week or so and they're now back on track?

Yep, already scanned, listened and on my way back.

Did you get any new nameplates and decals?

I didn't see any different in my Livery menus, so I'm assuming those "xeno-affirmative" sets are the same Xeno Ally sets that we got from a CG a few months back.

I posted this hoping for an answer. Didn't occur to me someone would mention it in this thread.

I just pointed my FSS at Oochost XM-L c24-1 (1,328.36 ly from Sol) from ICZ BQ-X b1-3 (120 ly from Sol) and the audio signal is crystal clear.

Not sure if there's anything different from before, though.

All I can say is that I now have the nameplates and decals and don't recall buying them. I don't remember if I already got them elsewhere earlier.

Given all the tinfoil hattery that's been going on re: D2 being the First Apostle.... did Seo speak with an Imperial accent..?

Well galnet has used up all there "news" posts so that would normaly point to NO CG tomorrow but that no longer is the case as Thargoids are now attacking systems with ZERO warning systems but I see nothing in the Galnet new which would make an easy quick post CG...Galnet has been releasing the CG 1 Hour early for 2 weeks in a row...
Kietrax not being online for a hole week now means nothing as flossy can easy make the CGs topiccs now...

my prediction is
40% no CG and another week off as Another combat CG right after a war CG would be to much and the thargoid attack has been bumped a few weeks so its closer to the November releas of patch 14 .
30% chance random cargo CG...
20% chance some random thargoid research item CG filler...
10% chance Alliance deploy their new AX fleet and the new mega ships to the coalsack but this is way to soon and they need supplies as Sirius are still useless with paper work.
They are still dealing with slow move of the player base to 4.0 engine so dont think any critical narrative will hit CGs till later in october...

CG in Altair or similar by Tesreau to respond to what D-2 told them is possible - something in the exploration or research/salvage area perhaps to encourage people to look at them? (Collect Large Exploration Data Caches? - the anomalies are about the only reliable source of those right now)

Feels a little early for a Colonia CG to support arriving refugees, but equally it might be tricky to find time to fit it in later once things start getting very hot. (I can always hope, right?)

"No CG" would generally mean there's some non-CG thing they want us to look at, which could easily not be made obvious until today's Galnet, or a message on Tesreau's mailing list.

Defeat for the True Chapters

Pilots’ Federation ALERT

A battle in the Popontia system has ended with Federal forces overwhelming defenders of the True Chapters sect.

The newly risen sect of the Order of the Far God was being protected by the Workers of Popontia Free, which was ultimately defeated. Governor Nadia Machado of the Popontia Incorporated announced:

“With the welcome support of auxiliaries and independent pilots, armed resistance in this system has been quelled. As per President Hudson’s orders, the Thargoid worshippers will be detained and the megaship Dedicant seized for Federal investigation.”

Governor Machado added that all pilots who took part in the operation can now collect their rewards from Ryman Market. Despite its failure, the Workers of Popontia Free is also offering payments from Ryman Market.

The two remaining Far God megaships, the Testament and the Perdition, have abandoned their scheduled itineraries and jumped to unknown locations to avoid further strikes by Federal forces. Prior to this, the First Apostle transmitted a message from the Testament:

“This attempt to conceal the truth is doomed to fail. The Far God’s harbingers blaze in our skies, growing ever nearer. We await the time of humanity’s unavoidable extinction.”

So when the Anomalies land, only two will have greeting parties. The third won't, will get angry and blow everyone up. Got it 🤪
