News Changes Coming to Multi-crew

I find it amusing that a lot of the call for multi-commander requiring the creation of instant telepresence instancing was because players didn't want to travel to meet up, didn't have time etc. etc., they just wanted to jump in with their friends.

FD based the implementation of multi-commander on this. Now people are complaining that it doesn't pay enough, doesn't give them this reward and that etc. so why bother when it's easier to jump in your own ship and wing up instead...

Oh, right, travel to meet up instead you mean...

Lots of fickle, entitled whiners.

my complaint about multicrew is the lack of control the helm has over what he wants to give his crewmates to play with.
for a feature that took so long to implement,

for me its a riddle why they have spent so much time for that "matchmaking" system, where we open up our ships for RANDOM player,
instead of releasing the thing with the on-invite-basis.

maybe i would tolerate it more, if that random player invite system, would have been implemented for wings at the same time, and the very same "join random ship" mechanic would have been expanded to CQC matches or to switch between open and privat group mode

I was really looking forward to be able to invite my friends over in my mining ship to help me mining more efficiently, instead having them to refit their ship with a mining laser and search for me in the universe.
nope. they have added turret mining lasers but probably have not tried the out a single time...

Haha, yeah. Apparantly some want instant, no risk, high reward, zero consequence gameplay or 'FD doesnt respect our time'. :p

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for all your feedback across the forums and on social media. We always appreciate your continued passion and support.

We wanted to let you know about some changes that will be coming to Multi-crew.

Two of the changes will be coming as part of a server-side update coming in the next few working days and one other change will arrive as part of the 2.3.1 update.

It’s important to note that the 2.3.1 update isn’t the same as the 2.3.01 update. The 2.3.01 update mentioned here highlights a number of bug fixes that the team have identified and will be making its way in the coming weeks. The 2.3.1 update will include a significant multi-crew update to improve the helms crew mate management and will be coming a series of weeks after 2.3.01. We’ll have more details on the exact dates as development continues.

We’ve got three changes that we’re looking to implement for Multi-Crew.

1 - Pay-out increase (server-side update in the next few working days)

We are tweaking the pay-out reward scheme for Multi-crew. We will be significantly increasing the pay-out for almost all ranks of crew members. It’s easiest to show this in table form that you can see below. The first table shows what the current pay-out scheme is, and the second shows what we’re going to change it to.

2 – Rebuy cost reduction (server-side update in the next few working days)

In addition to the changes above, we’re also improving the rebuy reduction for players hosting Multi-crew sessions in their ships. Currently Helm’s rebuy cost is reduced by 25% per crew member on board. We are increasing this pay-out reduction to 30% meaning a fully crewed ship will have its rebuy cost reduced by over half.

3 – Helm safety measures (2.3.1 update coming later)

We’ve been actively listening to feedback from the community and one thing we’ve seen is a number of requests for greater protection for hosts of Multi-crew sessions and improved safety measures. That’s why we’re going to be introducing two new function controls for the role of Helm. The first change will allow Helm to toggle limited access for the Gunner role. When toggled on the Gunner will only be able to use weapons, not utilities (such as shield cells), and only Helm will be able to deploy and retract the ship’s hardpoints. When toggled off the Gunner will have full access as they do now.

The other change will allow Helm to toggle the availability of the Fighter Con role – this will stop people launching fighters until Helm turns the toggle off.

We’d like to take this moment to thank you for your continued support and patience. The development team are working hard to bring the imminent server side update, the 2.3.01 bug fixes and the 2.3.1 point update to Commanders.

Regarding payout.. is this just for combat?
A few of my friends and I would love to try more things together, but it really isn't worth their time to join up at the moment. I'd love to fit fighters and turrets on my T9 and have them launch to protect my ship from pirates etc. It's not really worth it for them if they receive nothing from my trading though.

in the light of todays major demonstration on the livestream

its early may, how long do we need to wait?

Is there an increase coming for trade/mining/smuggling/piracy (all essentially under trade) as well? Or is it going to remain the 5% wing trade dividend?

I will have a second look in 2018 to see if the crusade was wrong or not.

People seem to judge quickly here. Hope you guys have right.

the question was "any news about that patch?"

"Early May" can only be this week

Early May was for the 2.3.01 patch, which they managed to pull through early. the 2.3.1 patch, as stated in the first post will be in the "coming weeks" and they'll have more information as development continues.

The first couple of multicrew improvements that they mention should have already been implemented at the back end server side.

For anything else, when the patch notes drop - & the server, that'll be our news.

doesn't change the fact that there haven't been any news regarding the implementation those features to make multicrew more usable. (helm control over hardpoint deploying, restricted access to countermeasures)

In the OP it says "The 2.3.1 update will include a significant multi-crew update to improve the helms crew mate management and will be coming a series of weeks after 2.3.01. We’ll have more details on the exact dates as development continues."

2.3.01 was released april 25th so the "series of weeks" started only 2 weeks ago. Maybe there's no news to report yet. To me the term "series of weeks" means something like between 2 and 4 weeks (if it were longer it would be in a month or so :) ) so no need to panic yet.

Last "it will be short beta" was 2 months. Do you really think there is no need to panic yet? TIME is something way out of our imagine for FD. Year ago they say "soon". It is 2017 already and this "soon" is still not in game. Oh btw. They again say that this will be implemented "soon". Will we talk about it in 2018?

It is funny, but we actually will talk about it exactly in 2018 in release of 2.4. So much about SEASON.

It is take them 6-8 (with a patch updates to fix this mess) month to release the most pathetic, useless, DOA update like 2.3 with zero new gameplay in it. I don't know about you. But i am in panic and i lost all my faith after all this time. This is how FD work.

[up]Awesome, looking forward to it.

Would like to see some type of benefit for multi-crew exploration. You might as well pilot your own ship along side your buddy (wing it!) and receive data entries. What's the point of riding as a passenger if you don't get data entries or for that matter any rewards?
