Changing Ships Without Landing At A Station First

The proof is simple. Open up your logfile for that session using Windows notepad. Use Edit/find to search for the commander's name. Each find will show a line like this, which includes the ship type with a timestamp. You had to target his ships to see that he had two different types. Please post the proof, otherwise you were completely mistaken.

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-16T15:18:57Z", "event":"ShipTargeted", "TargetLocked":true, "Ship":"typex_3", "Ship_Localised":"Alliance Challenger", "ScanStage":2, "PilotName":"$npc_name_decorate:#name=Cheeterbix;", "PilotName_Localised":"Cheeterbix", "PilotRank":"Expert", "ShieldHealth":100.000000, "HullHealth":100.000000 }

You should always have a superfast Sidewinder in case you get hassled by any commanders.

Send for the SW, which should have a speed of 745m/s, equipped with a 2A interdictor, then go chasing after them. It makes no difference how big their wing is, just continuously interdict them, drop a heatsink and run away back into supercruise to get them again. Repeat until they get fed up and leave or block you. Once they block you, you'll probably never be bothered by them again. Their fighting ships can't do anything against you and it's nearly impossible for them to escape from your interdiction.

FINALLY found out where those damned log files are. The rest of my evening was spent scrubbing the name and Squadron ID out. Sorry if this word-wraps.

This was the first time I saw him:

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-17T01:11:47Z", "event":"ShipTargeted", "TargetLocked":true, "Ship":"ferdelance", "Ship_Localised":"Fer-de-Lance", "ScanStage":0 }
{ "timestamp":"2019-10-17T01:12:02Z", "event":"ShipTargeted", "TargetLocked":true, "Ship":"ferdelance", "Ship_Localised":"Fer-de-Lance", "ScanStage":1, "PilotName":"$cmdr_decorate:#name=xxxxxxx;", "PilotName_Localised":"CMDR xxxxxxx", "PilotRank":"Elite", "SquadronID":"xxxx" }
{ "timestamp":"2019-10-17T01:12:04Z", "event":"ShipTargeted", "TargetLocked":true, "Ship":"ferdelance", "Ship_Localised":"Fer-de-Lance", "ScanStage":2, "PilotName":"$cmdr_decorate:#name=xxxxxxx;", "PilotName_Localised":"CMDR xxxxxxx", "PilotRank":"Elite", "SquadronID":"xxxx", "ShieldHealth":100.000000, "HullHealth":99.929855 }
{ "timestamp":"2019-10-17T01:12:06Z", "event":"ShipTargeted", "TargetLocked":true, "Ship":"ferdelance", "Ship_Localised":"Fer-de-Lance", "ScanStage":3, "PilotName":"$cmdr_decorate:#name=xxxxxxx;", "PilotName_Localised":"CMDR xxxxxxx", "PilotRank":"Elite", "SquadronID":"xxxx", "ShieldHealth":100.000000, "HullHealth":99.929855, "LegalStatus":"Clean", "Bounty":529000, "Power":"xxxxxxx" }

At this point he dropped out of SC. I watched and waited for him to reappear. When he did, it was in the exact same spot he dropped at but now in a viper.
Based on the time stamps it shows 4 minutes between dropping out of SC and reappearing in SC. We were about 600-800 LS away from the nearest station.

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-17T01:18:27Z", "event":"ShipTargeted", "TargetLocked":true, "Ship":"viper_mkiv", "Ship_Localised":"Viper Mk IV", "ScanStage":0 }
{ "timestamp":"2019-10-17T01:18:28Z", "event":"ShipTargeted", "TargetLocked":true, "Ship":"viper_mkiv", "Ship_Localised":"Viper Mk IV", "ScanStage":1, "PilotName":"$cmdr_decorate:#name=xxxxxxx;", "PilotName_Localised":"CMDR xxxxxxx", "PilotRank":"Elite", "SquadronID":"xxxx" }

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-17T01:18:32Z", "event":"ShipTargeted", "TargetLocked":true, "Ship":"viper_mkiv", "Ship_Localised":"Viper Mk IV", "ScanStage":3, "PilotName":"$cmdr_decorate:#name=xxxxxxx;", "PilotName_Localised":"CMDR xxxxxxx", "PilotRank":"Elite", "SquadronID":"xxxx", "ShieldHealth":0.000000, "HullHealth":100.000000, "LegalStatus":"Clean", "Bounty":293000, "Power":"xxxxxxx" }

At this moment I sent a text to one of the people on my friends list with this:

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-17T01:20:23Z", "event":"SendText", "To":"xxxxxx", "Message":"don't believe this, he lo-waked, a few min later he's back where he was but now in a viper mk iv." }

Again, 4 minutes and we're more than that from a station, so switching to Solo, going there, changing ships, hauling butt out of there, SC back to exactly where he was before, log out and return in Open may be POSSIBLE, but the odds are pretty high against it unless you have pin-point accuracy to reappear EXACTLY where you low-waked originally.

BTW, this happened today with him. Not claiming hacking or anything but this is just how fast this takes place:

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-18T00:12:57Z", "event":"UnderAttack", "Target":"You" }

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-18T00:13:10Z", "event":"CockpitBreached" }

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-18T00:13:16Z", "event":"HullDamage", "Health":0.399353, "PlayerPilot":true, "Fighter":false }

{ "timestamp":"2019-10-18T00:13:48Z", "event":"Died", "KillerName":"Cmdr XXXXXXX"KillerShip":"viper_mkiv", "KillerRank":"Elite" }

For the record, I DO know that my Cobra DID manage to plant a few laser beams on his hull a couple of times. Even though he didn't have any shields at all, it didn't help. I do have to say, he's deadly, that's for sure.

In any event, my original question was: how does he change ships like that?

Well, yeah, I thought if he did that how would he know exactly where to reappear once he got back with another ship? Twice, in fact. That's why I figured I'd better ask about it first. I don't want to accuse anyone of being a HaKor or anything like that if a new "feature" was recently added.
It's easy to reappear at the same spot very quickly if you have a 2nd account with wing beacon activated in your wing. In private, turn on nav lock to your 2nd account and fly from station to your 2nd account's ship without even slowing down. Then relog in open and go to supercruise.

Now wait a minute there. If my ship flies unmanned when I transfer it to another station, why does it cost me that much credits everytime?! I always figured some one in the hangar actually needed to stop drinking their coffee and fly the ship for me?

Which brings us round to the issue of telepresence in the game again! Are we really in our ships or are we remote piloting drones from 40K Ly away!?

two different CMDRs...

I know you have sanitised the data, but look at the bounty amount? they are both different.

Or, as someone suggested, same commander, different accounts?

Just realised, Bounty is on the ship not the CMDR right ? So that would negate my assumption...

Looking at this;

1. It's two different accounts with very very similar names... or..
2. It's a hack.

I see no way on this earth or in Elite Space :) that you can switch ships in what.. 6 seconds ?

Q: Can two accounts have the same CMDR Name ??

Correct - bounty was on the ship.

1) I checked the logs again, same exact name and spelling (It's in "eLiTe" type spelling for both ships).
2) Well, I didn't want to accuse anyone of that without obtaining a consensus of opinion first.
3) Actually the delay time was 4 minutes, but yeah, that's why I asked if it was a new feature I was not aware of. For the record I took one of my ships out, went into SC for about a minute, dropped out of SC, once at full stop I hit escape, checked the menu. You can now modify the paint job, labels/patches, bobbleheads, even change ship NAME, but you cannot change the actual ship - that still has to be done in a ship yard.

Q: Can two accounts have the same CMDR Name ??
I don't think so - not sure if it's case-sensitive or not, but I think "Leadfoot" would be counted by FD as the same as "LeADfOOt". In this case, commander name was exactly the same, including the "elite" type of spelling.
