ChangoDock.com Travel Planner

The ships page has some scannability problems. It's not very readable.

Might I suggest you restructure the .col-md-4 -> table part so that it is .col-md-12 -> table (containing the 3 ships in a 'row' of ships, e.g. Sidewinder, Eagle and hauler as the page is now.). This will align the table cells nicely.

Let me know if you need a hand. I know my way around bootstrap etc.

Thanks Hans, for helping. The ships page indeed does not look nice. Your suggestion can make it better, but the page will lose responsiveness (scale on mobile). I hope you have more ideas on how to show it nicely.

A very interesting tool! This works better than the one in Slopey's trading tool because it takes your additional mass and fuel consumption into account.

For each jump, can you please list the distance and fuel consumed and for the whole route the total distance and total fuel consumed. And also the % fuel tank consumed.

Also, maybe it would be good to give some multiple routes showing the % fuel tank consumed so you can see the routes with less and longer jumps use up more fuel and the routes with more shorter jumps.

I am working on showing alternative routes to not have to refuel at non anarchy systems. Showing the fuel % is not very relevant, only nice to have. Maybe an advanced view I can make later.

Added a permalink/share option for a planned route.

Added a history panel to see which routes you planned, click on it to see the route again.

So now you can discus routes on any forum with a simple link like this:

I just discovered this tool and I have to say, it's a fantastic one! Bookmarked and ready to use it (carefully) tomorrow as I venture out into the stars :)

However.... shame on you for using bootstrap. Try Foundation 5... you'll fall in love with it once you understand how it works with sass. Bootstrap is a bit restrictive in my experience.

My old job I had a coworker with a Bootstrap fetish. Every freaking thing he did was with Bootstrap, and everything looked exactly the same. No matter how much tweaking and customizing he wasted untold hours on, everything looked like, well Bootstrap. I have since developed a bit of loathing for it.

On that note: good job OP. Handy little tool you put together there.

Thanks for the encouragements people!

This weekend I will try to add stuff from the beta 2 and think of a way to keep things up to date.

About bootstrap, I use this because I am more of a backender, so I don't want to do a lot of frontending. Bootstrap is a very easy way to make a usable interface that is responsive. Downside indeed is that most bootstrap sites look alike.

I agree completely with you, sir. :D

I refuse to work or do contract with an employer or client who forces me to use it. It's clunky, inefficient, and downright confusing. The classes are the worst, and it's not 100% responsive in that it uses fixed @media widths natively.

I'm only poking atcha for fun, no worries good sir! :) still looks hot.

You did a WONDERFUL job with this tool! I have it book marked and cannot wait to use it when i get some down time tonight! Would gladly donate a few bucks to your efforts if you put up a donate page. More work like this deserves donations.

Just jumped on to see if the site had info on the new ships etc, but alas not. I hope you get soem tiem to do an update, very useful site.

cheers

nice, thx, was pulling my hair out trying to work out how to get some where.. used your tool to find out i couldnt get there in my sidey :(

I don't believe the tool has been updated since Beta 1. If you guys create accounts on the site you can actually add systems with the relevant data/update existing data. I haven't been on it lately to update anything myself, but I've been fairly sick lately. Not sure if he's updated the equations to take into account the new systems and what-not so that might not work, but the listing could still be updated.

nice idea for a site, only one MAJOR problem i see with it right now is that it doesnt conform to the media usage rules.

you need to add the long form disclaimer to your site:

Long form:
"[Name of your project] was created using assets and imagery from Elite: Dangerous, with the permission of Frontier Developments plc, for non-commercial purposes. It is not endorsed by nor reflects the views or opinions of Frontier Developments and no employee of Frontier Developments was involved in the making of it."

The long form version should be used for video content, community sites/fan pages or for longer editorials, where it can be adequately fitted in without affecting the creativity of the piece. This could be in the credits, header/footer, or terms & conditions, depending on the nature of the content. As long as it is not deliberately obscured or hidden from viewers.

Although a good idea either way. Especially if he wants to show the creative rights for contributors. But It is only "needed" if it is being monetized in some form.
