Chapter 3 release date 28th August

Warning. Warning. Hyperbole.

And while it's hyperbole, it's just not that far off. Really, some of the expectations of some people are way over the top and their belief that DB and the Devs (new band?) have implicitly stated what is coming based on (what most would/should realize) what was obvious musings about the things they would like to see in the game, stated now so long ago, is astonishing. DB and the Devs enthusiasm for the game and the possibilities ran away with them, understandable after you just built a game based on a one to one model of the Milky Way, but from a marketing point of view they never should have shown that stuff off. It raised expectations unrealistically and the reality of filling this large game space along with poor choices such as placeholders instead of fleshed features has brought us to this point.

I'm glad for the Beyond updates, but I wish that they never did the whole thargoid thing as it continues to fed, devouring development time that could be better spent on cleaning up the mess of placeholder and the large assortment of inconsistencies that Rootsrat thread had so ably highlighted.

I've not seen anyone saying 3.3 will bring space legs.

The DLC isn't being discussed probably because they've not finished Beyond. It's likely there's plenty of QoL improvements in Beyond that they've not mentioned yet.

If you read enough threads it is clear that more than a few think that way... They often don't come out and say it (but some do) they often imply it. I keep tripping over these comments and it just blows my mind when FDev has clearly stated that space legs isn't coming in beyond.

My wish list for Q3 is quite simple:
* new story content - because I like it;
* QoL improvements and bug fixes;
* ATF in supercruise;
* You can throw some ships in there as well I won't complain;

I would really appreciate if we could get more variety in outfit packs. As it happens, I fly in my Turncoat outfit for about a year now, and it's nice and all but well, it starts feeling like a school uniform. And I would pay quite willingly for more variety on glasses.

Otherwise, please don't switch off the servers and I'm content. :D

Personally, I just think FDEV should have stopped adding new, unconnected bolt-on stuff to this game a couple of years ago and actually replaced one or two in-game placeholders with a real mechanic for each update...

This.

I really appreciate the new toys FDev has given us, for free, this year but I was under the impression that this was going to be something of a "gap year" to give FDev a chance to get off the treadmill, start working on something really good for 2019 and tidy up everything that's already in the game.

So far, all we've really got is C&P (which has "tidied things up" in the same way that a hand-grenade "tidies up" a room when it detonates) and now we're 3/4 of the way through the year and I'm not really seeing any signs of existing stuff in the game working any better than it did in January.

I have no idea if FDev do plan on releasing updates/patches for stuff like the mission-board, instancing, C&P and various other bugs/issues along with 3.3 but if they do intend to do that, at the same time as the mining and exploration updates, I can't see it going smoothly.

It's kind of like a kid who spends all summer partying instead of revising and doing his course-work with the intent of cramming like crazy in the week before the final exam.
That never goes well.

Without speculating on exactly what this is... what I'm hoping for is a reason to finally get an exploration ship kitted out with recon/hatchbreaker limpets for useful, interesting things, rather than the dump-loot we get from megaships at the moment.

Blue engines....metalic tech, looks like we got some big Guardian stuff moving back into the area.

From today's release notes:

Guardian Beacons

New Guardian Beacons have been discovered in the galaxy. These will lead you to new discoveries and help you uncover new Guardian secrets. The puzzles you solve at these giant structures will lead you to unlock some incredible new technology.

"Things" would be more appropriate I guess ;)
