Can you give more details on the "frequency tuner" mechanic?
Will we be able to set it to focus on multiple frequencies (object types) at the same time?
 
Awesome ! Hope we'll get to see the new mechanics in action / video since some aspect of the explanation / screenshot are not clear to me. I will be there for the live ! :)

Is the new interface a 3D cockpit overlay panel similar to the Station UI, or is it a separate view completely?
Has the UI been tried in VR and how does it operate in there?

please can you confirm in the stream (or on here ;) ) whether or not the new scanning UI has been tested to work properly in VR....

and then ideally go a little deeper, as in explain whether it technically works and is usable, or whether any actual time was spent on its design with VR in mind.

Are there any plans to make the new signal source system wing shared? eg. the first person that jumps into a system generates the signal sources and any wing mates that jump in after use the same list. Yesterday it was stated that this wouldnt be the case but it really does make wing stuff more fiddly than it needs to be so are there any future plans to try and implement this or are we stuck with the current system forever?
 
QUESTION: The current ADS system map allows one to quickly see if a body has been tagged by another explorer. Will the new system tell you this information just as quickly, or will you have to spend X time to discover all bodies to build up a complete system map in order to know this information?

Mild off-topic: is gunner role VR compatible? Because I guess "cartograph" role will act kind of like gunner: 360° rotation free camera overlayed by interface.
 
Really excited about trying the new exploration mechanics, on the whole it sounds awesome! Way beyond what I was expecting!

Couple of questions though, if I may (in no particular order):

Q1: Has VR support been tested? Are the new interfaces full-screen overlays like the Galaxy Map / System Map, or more like the Station menu? Especially concerned about the small fonts and screen elements in the sample screenshots.

Q2: Will there be a way to share discoveries with other people (eg, by deploying a mini-navbeacon, or broadcasting your system information to other people in the system) to facilitate meeting up on a particular planet without everybody having to scan the system in order to do so? This is particularly important to organised expeditions. Consider cases where Commanders are arriving in many different instances so wing beacons may not work.

Q3: The current proposal has the DSS pin-pointing POI's with the probes. Any thoughts about changing that to instead show search-zones for the POIs to encourage either ship-based or SRV-based exploration of the area to actually find the POI? Huge difference between having to eyeball an entire planet or to engage in a meaningful search in a limited area.

Q4: It's already been mentioned that there are currently no plans to create a "Slot 3" combined scanner module or utility-mount module for the scanners; any chance of reconsidering this? With the vast increase in optional modules it would be nice to take along more items in order to have meaningful interactions with anything we might find with the new scanners.

Q5: Probe synthesis - please ensure the materials are basic and can be gathered either with an SRV on a planet or using a mining-laser in a ring. Think along the lines of SRV fuel synthesis; at least for Level 1 synth. Also, will there be higher-grade synthesis which allows probes to cover more of a planet or have extended range?

Q6: Will asteroid belts (not rings!) finally get some love and be able to be scanned and tagged as well?

This sounds like a lot of thought has gone into it and I look forward to trying this out. There are so many great improvements being made. I am wondering though...

Who is going to change their name to GOOGLE and Map Earth first, just for laughs?

Seriously though...

I can see trying to scan a system in order to locate the station/planetary base you are looking for >1000ls being quite annoying if an NPC has targeted you for interdiction because of a mission or cargo you are carrying. Having to then try and drop into the nav beacon, again a pain and likely involves avoiding interdiction and being thrown into the star, but would this then rob you of any financial reward that you would have otherwise gotten if not having to rely on the nav beacon?

At the moment it is a simple honk and your done. You then get the interdictions (annoyingly) a couple of seconds just before dropping to the station, trying not to hit the planet, but at least you know which way to have gone.

Trying to run from 3 (or more) NPC interdictions AND trying to scan the system to figure out where you need to go could be a bit of an issue.

There are a lot of people complaining about the honk not revealing everything. I'd just like to state for the record I'm not one of them. Finally exploration gets some much needed love.

I counter that by asking why has FD gone for a non opt out system of identifying Planets by forcing us to scan each one individually to reveal them on a system map.

The system we now have is a one honk shows all, BUT you have the option of NOT buying the ADS
