I have some big news to share with you all. Charleston Gardens Amusement Park today announced we are buying a zoo. That's right we will be the new owners of Carolina Zoo in Charleston SC. When we take ownership of the zoo next year the new name will be Charleston Gardens Zoo. More information to follow.

Charleston Gardens Amusement Park Buys Local Zoo​

A very popular amusement park in Charleston SC just announced they just bought Carolina Zoo and will start running it for the 2020 season. The Ritchie family which owned and operated Carolina Zoo since the 1980's decided it was time to retire. Tom Ritchie and his wife felt now is the time to retire and relax and spend more time with family. The new owners of the zoo are very familiar to the Carolina's. Ryan Kucewicz the General Manager of Charleston Gardens Amusement Park decided on buying the zoo because it goes hand in hand with the amusement park and it makes Charleston SC more of a tourist destination. Ever since I became General Manager of Charleston Gardens Amusement Park back in 2009 I always wanted to own a zoo. Ryan Kucewicz said when Charleston Gardens Amusement Park takes over the zoo next year look for some changes. One change is the name of the zoo will change from Carolina Zoo to Charleston Gardens Zoo. Also look for special admission prices to the zoo along with the amusement park as well.

New This Year At Charleston Gardens Amusement Park​

If you go to Charleston Gardens Amusement Park this year you will find some new additions for this season. One new addition the new section of the park called Old Charleston. This new section takes you back to being in a traditional amusement park. With 5 new flat rides and a new wooden bobsled roller coaster. Also new this year are some new food options. Like Charleston Gardens Amusement Park famous BBQ ribs which are making a come back after a 5 year absence. Also new this year are pasta bowls where the guests can create there own pasta. Charleston Gardens Amusement Park is open on Weekends now until Memorial Day and then are open daily starting Memorial Day until Labor Day.

As you can see land has been cleared in the back of the park near the Blue Comet Roller Coaster. I wonder what can be coming in this section of the park in 2020? Announcement will be made at the end of August. Let the guessing begin.

Our Tea Cups ride looks amazing at night as well.

Also something ghoulish is happening in this part of Charleston Gardens Amusement Park for 2020. More on that later this year.

Just a quick update from Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. Well Project 2020 is a go construction for that should start at the end of August. More on that project to come.
Phase 1 of our new section for this year Old Charleston seems to be a hit. It's like stepping back in time to a old fashion amusement park

A ride that has been apart of Charleston Gardens Amusement Park since the very beginning The Satellite. It's apart of our new section Old Charleston.

Another ride that is a true classic is our Scrambler ride. Our Scrambler ride can be found in the Old Charleston section of the park.

Since today is Friday why not stop off at Mystic Pizza and get some of the best pizza you ever had. You can't beat $3 a slice. Our pizza is made fresh daily from the dough to the homemade sauce and our very own cheese blend.

Some sad news to pass along, next year will be the last time you will be able to ride our inverted roller coaster The Wasp. But don't you worry we have some big plans to announce to take it's place later this year.

Construction Update
Well we broke ground today on Phase 2 of our Old Charleston Section which will open next year at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. We will have more construction updates coming soon.

Just a small update from Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. This week we started construction on another new section coming next year to Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. This new section will be located near the Blue Comet roller coaster and where our river raft ride use to be. I can't say much what the new section will be, but I will say this it will make a big splash in 2020.

Today is the day that we are announcing that Charleston Gardens Amusement Park is finally getting a water park in 2020. This water park will be located inside the park near the Blue Comet coaster in the back of the park. It will include about 8-10 water slides, lazy river and a brand new water coaster called The Acropolis which is pictured below.

Also coming in 2020 is our brand new family/kiddie ride Wild Falcon.

We have a few more things to announce next week on what else will be coming in 2020. We can't wait to make that announcement.

Well the 2019 season is coming to a close in the next couple of days. But don't worry the fun will still continue through September and October. After Labor Day Charleston Gardens Amusement Park will only be open on Fridays and weekends starting September 6th. Where did the summer go.
We have another big annoucement regarding next year. Phase 2 of Old Charleston will open to more thrills and fun. As we bring back some classic rides that once were a staple at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park.

The Whip a classic amusement park ride that was once at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park from 1974-1982. Our guest will be thrilled we are bringing back this classic ride for the 2020 season.

Paratooper will also be joining the new ride line up for 2020. This ride is an all time classic.

Chairlift a ride that was missed by our guests will also be making a return for the 2020 season.

And finally we can't leave out a roller coaster for Phase 2 of Old Charleston. Please welcome Pip Squeak. A high thrilling wild mouse roller coaster for 2020.

All of this and so much more awaits you for the 2020 season. 2020 is going to be a wild and wet year for Charleston Gardens Amusement Park.

Construction on Phase 2 of Old Charleston is moving right along. Since Charleston Gardens Amusement Park is closed for the season construction can go full throttle. The first ride with Phase 2 of Old Charleston is our wild mouse roller coaster Pip Squeak. The other rides should be constructed in a few weeks.
