How much time, if any, does David get to game nowadays? And if so what does he like to play? Besides ED of course!

Come to think of it, has David been indulging much in the Alpha and Premium Beta phases? Might we have seen him out there? ;)

Are there any coded non-procedural parts of the galaxy he's asked the dev's not to tell him about, so that he can have the experience of discovering them like we would? :)

1. Am I correct in thinking, that the background starfield is rendered at your game location, from the galactic map, by way of a simulation?

2. Would you be willing to receive short e-mail on a synergic raspberry pi / education project for consideration of "in theory endorsement"? Is to develop an extra FD income, adding free and long term "good egg" exposure for E: D.

David Braben, thanks. I'm glad E: D is going ahead.

:D

Some questions from me:

1. What's your favourite weapon so far in the game?

2. Are there personal things you have snuck into the game? Little tributes or personal touches you wanted in?

3. What are you looking forward to showing off most that isn't in the game yet?

Q1: Will explorers get their names mentioned on a systems blurb if they're the first person to successfully navigate a hyperspace route to that system?

Similarly, will players who conduct surveys of newly discovered systems also get a mention too? Along the lines of: System X, first visited by player X (date), system first surveyed by player Z (date).

Q2: Probably way too early for this one but I'll throw it out there too. How will ED handle character death in the EVA expansion? At the moment our characters are effectively immortal due to indestructible escape pods (or will be once pods are implemented), but how will a character survive death if he's head-shot in a boarding action, or falls down a ravine while exploring some planetary surface? Have you thought about SC's approach with inheritance? (hint hint ;))

Q3: Will the fabled world of Raxxla be in the game somewhere for us explorers to discover someday?

Guaranteeing the Elite legacy

What do you think of putting some framework in place to guarantee ED's future availability/playability, in case FD were taken over, sold, went bellyup or lost interest? Such as open-sourcing or making available for free the game and backend servers if no expansion release were made for some period of time?

The questions I ask myself most right now:

Technical:

- Did you get to keep the Oculus Rift DK2 seen on your photo on twitter recently, or did Oculus VR only give you a Demo Session at Frontier?
- How was your impression of the test run of the DK2 with Elite Dangerous? (I do not know whether early access to a personal DK2 is accompanied by something like a NDA. However if you are allowed to deliberate in more detail I'd especially like to know: How was the readability of in-game text in the DK2?)

- Are the entire procedural generation mechanisms in the game already? (As far as I can tell it would be possible, that the procedural generation of the galaxy layout is in place, but not for the insides of the systems. The five systems in the present build could still be handcrafted.)

Game Design:

- There have been concept arts showing an advanced trade interface that makes statistics available to the player. What are the present plans for the trade interface? Is something close to the concept arts still the objective (while the interface in the present beta would be a placeholder), or did Frontier choose to present less information to the player deliberately, in order to increase the challenge of trading. (So: Is it intended to be part of the experience, that players use pen and paper instead of in-game aids?)

Excellent. I think this is midnight for Australians on Thursday (end of Thursday the 5th).

As for my question: Is there any kind of road map that you can share with us as far as what is planned for the remainder of the development stages?

Has David and the frontier team in general been keeping tabs on Star Citizen development ?

As the two games are being developed in parallel it would be interesting to get any thoughts at all on this.

My question for David:

Can you tell us anything about some of the exciting missions we have to look forward to? How will contacts and missions provide more depth to the game?

A few from me...

  • What is your most anticipated feature yet to be introduced to the ED Alpha/Beta process?

  • I checked out some of the details behind the Procedural Generation in the original Elite on the BBC e.g. the generation of the Government type, tech level system description etc and was even more amazed on how the whole game was crammed into a Model B. Is the level of PG and data compression the same in ED or expanded slightly to encompass planet styles, densities, rings etc?

  • Once ED is live, what will be the likely time-spans between FD created events?

  • In the 30 years since the original, when did you foresee the level of detail ED will give, graphically, depth & gameplay wise, being achievable or has it always been there burning away in the background?

  • What feature(s) would you have loved to have put into the original Elite if the hardware allowed?

  • When not running a successful development studio and founding the Raspberry Pi foundation, what do you do in your spare time, how do you unwind?

he,s been thanking us a thousand times in his videos.
I just like to say , thank you MR Braben.

think most feel the same way.

JohnStabler Stabler asked about the missions earlier, I'd like to know if any of the Books would have any kind of Tie In to the game (missions specific I suppose).

A few Questions :)

1. What if anything do you think of the Community and the various podcasts and tributes that have sprung up?

2. Are you happy with where the current build is now?

3. Have you had a chance to read or look at any of the fiction that has come out? are you planning to if not?

4. Do you ever get Angry????

How nervous were you when the Premium Beta was released?

How many slices of Beta Day cake did you have?

What allegiance do you have in ED (Federation, Imperial, Alliance etc), or do you help the little guys instead?

Since you have access to all the galaxy, what is your favorite star system, and why?

Gimballed or fixed?

Is the Federation way the right way?

My question would be

What if your favorite beer? / drink?

I'll try and acquire some and raise a toast to you for re-igniting the passion and imagination of us all again.

Why did you choose the path to have P2P instead of an dedicated central server? The cost and maintenance or? I would gladly pay more founds in a separate kick-starter that would add a central server as I think p2p never will work properly.

Definitely this. I would much prefer one open world as opposed to small pockets of random multiplayer. It breaks the immersion, for me at least.

Is there some code - no matter how little and/or old - in ED written by David Braben himself?

And this too. :)

Although the RADAR was not originally intended for the original Elite game, are you astounded that the design you came up with 30 years ago is still a tour-de-force within the Elite universe?
