To whom it may concern:

Since the events of 3308 and the beginning of the analysis of the Guardian Obelisk signals, as well as others, the UNV Signals Analysis Directorate has been formed. Currently we are working with the Guardian Science Corp to research and investigate the mysteries of the guardians with a focus on Signals Analysis and cryptanalyses. After much discussion and With the assistance of CMDR Falcon91 from McCoy Spaceways we are happy to report that under this new framework we have been able to make strides forward to clear up the air about the Guardian Obelisk signals.

First we have categorically demonstrated that Canonn was incorrect in their initial analysis. They did NOT properly classify all of the symbols within the guardian audio. It is our firm belief that this is what lead to the end of the research in 3308 and before due to a misunderstanding of the information. The initial analysis by Maligno stated that there were simplistic and almost laughable now that we have taken proper measurements and parametrics of the signal. This is the Canonn description of the Chatterbox1 signal:

After thorough analysis discussion (and even some disagreement) we have found that the signal is comprised of 8 elements. These elements can be measured and match up exactly, every time, with a minor exception for the 'shifted' versions (which is still being researched). Sometimes each of the symbols will appear 100-200 hz above or below the expected frequency. Regardless the symbols themselves in timing and bandwidth remain the same.

The first 4 elements are burst like signals which APPEAR very similar to signals from the late 20th through the early 22nd century on earth. They are so named:

Alpha

Beta

Gama

Epsilon

Reminiscent of the 'BARS' (though that description is so simplistic) above. They are clear Burst-type signals with a high SnR. They have clear segmentation and signal characteristics

The next 3 Elements are comprised of the 'Multitonal' signal that appears as lines. This was clearly disregarded in the Canonn analysis. Note that the Difference between KAPPA and LAMBDA is approximately 1.2 seconds. WE have confirmed them as separate elements. There is a clear artifact (a little swoop) at the end of KAPPA that is not present in LAMBDA and it is consistent.

The final element is OMICRON. This is consistent and always at the end of the signal. We are not certain as to the significance as the likelihood of it containing meaningful data is lower due to its unchanging state and position within the data 'packet's

We at the UNV Signals Analysis Directory believe that we can begin to transcribe the signal in a meaningful fashion, and are now starting cryptanalysis attempts to determine the nature of these symbols. After much study it has become clear that the race we call the Guardians were heavily reliant on VISUAL communicated over AUDIABLE communications. Using this line of thinking it would make some sense if these symbols were meant to be read visually. Perhaps they even simply viewed them on some version of the spectrograph just as we do, as a visual representation of sound rather then using earthlike Analog to Digital encoding techniques. - Though it should be noted that multiple attempts have been made to quantize elements and convert Analog to Digital in a meaningful way. None of which have been successful to this date (mostly due to the pilots federation strict control over communications equipment available to commanders)

Rest assured we are working hard to crack this mystery. We will not be held back by Ram Tah, the shortsightedness of Canonn or the superpowers. We will continue to research Guardian technology until we have determined what did actually happen to that 'new burgeoning civilization' and proceeded them which Ram Tah had mentioned in the decoded Guardian Codex.

Update - 02163310
Further analysis of previous recordings has been slow. We have begun to identify some patterning in the data 'packets' as they are known. CMDR Valerie42 (Canonn) has identified a possible word structure within the packets themselves. Further analysis is now being conducted as initial inspection has all come up a match. Essentially this is the breakout.

There are 7 possible symbols disregarding the EOL symbol Omicron
Every symbol is repeated at least 1nce per word and at least 1 word per packet.
The smallest current packet on record is 8 symbols in length (disregarding the EOL symbol) and includes every symbol.
Every word includes every symbol.
As soon as every symbol is played that is a complete word.
After a word, a new word starts if the packet is not finished. (so every symbol must be repeated at least once again)

Currently various methods are being tested to recreate the string or to determine the importance of this element in the patterning.

Examples
The top shows what would happen if values were assigned to symbols arbitraraly based on their appearance in order of a word. (e.g if A is the first letter every A is a 1 until the end of the word)
The second line is a 'counting back' method that was suggested. This is where the first instance is converted to a Zero, and every repeat is the number of steps back to the same symbol. This runs into issues as the value may be >10 (in this instance 12 which was rounded using an attic wheel so 12-7 is 5, but you can see where this rabit hole might go)
The last example is a simple binary switch. Every instance of the first symbol is a 1 everything else is a zero until the word ends.

In any case the work continues. We are seeking recordings (details on how to capture in game audio can be provided upon request and are available at the Guardian Science Corps and Canonn discord servers) greater then 90 minutes or packets with 8 symbols or less. These are to test specific theory regarding the signal structure and nature.

We will find those missing ruins and sites. Ram Tah said maybe thousands? Some of the logs eluded to guardian Engines? Ships? - Oh man, if I didnt have to live in the pocket of those engineers. Who knows what they get up to crawling around under the hull. You have no idea the number of signals coming off my ship.... but that is for another day.
