Chieftain Size and perhaps other specs

I seriously doubt that FD will break with the number 8. Size 8 as max for modules, 8 utilities max, even 8 guns max so far.
They already have... T10D has 9 Weapon hard-points (4 L+ 3 M+ 2 S)

This is false, the Anaconda has 10 utility slots as does the corvette, they are simply not usable.
All 4 of the big ships (T10D, Anaconda, Corvette, Cutter) only have 8 Utility slots... not 10.

It's smaller than I was expecting. After thinking about that a bit, I prefer it as a medium over a large ship.

With the prospect of the new open-beta, I thought I'd check in and see if there was any consensus about how the Chieftain might turn out yet.

Personally, I'm kind of hoping/expecting that it'll turn out to be an alternative to the Python whereas the Krait might turn out to be an alternative to the FdL.

Which, in itself, is a bit of a paradox given that the Python and FdL are both medium-pad ships with broadly similar combat capabilities.
Course, the Python and the FdL "feel" massively different to fly and I wonder if they'll manage to achieve that again with the Chieftain vs the Krait?

I think the Krait is going to be a Cobra Mk3 meets the Keelback rather than the FdL.

The Chieftan IMO will be a mix of the FAS and Gunship minus the fighter.

The ship appears to have 2 medium slots at the front but what is the slot on the top?

It looks to be a C3 or a C4?

Donar ships, the Python did a lot of dirty drive tuning... And when you can't, strip it down and fly with what you need.

Yes, I'm looking at getting my Anaconda and refitting it to carry the modules. So far I've spent close to $2 million shipping the hull and modules around, while doing the rest of the legwork with other ships.

Actually, I've skipped my last two play sessions, because I'm really not sure all this investment of time in the FGS is going to actually be worth it (mainly due to weak shield concerns). Hence the idea of just selling it, and starting over with an Anaconda for anti-Thargoid play, instead of a really experimental FGS that may not work out as well.

Sorry for OT, BTW.

Here are my hopes for the Chieftain:

1. Medium size
2. Decent jump range
3. If it's Alliance rank locked, I hope there is some consideration for those of us who have been allied with the Alliance before there was any material reward for doing so.

Also, the ship kind of looks like an upgraded version of my beloved DBX, so I'm excited to try the ship in game.

Pretty sure it's going to have a footprint like a clipper, with the wide nacelle spread. Feel like this will make my clippers obsolete with its fighter bay though. Predicting that it won't have the top speed of the clipper, but will have better maneuverability. Betting on 50/50 hull shield ratio where the clipper is solid on shields and feds are better hull tanks. Looking forward to grind up a few.

The Clipper has absolutely horrible shields.

I thought punching above its weight was mostly a Star Citizen meme. ;)

As long as it gets close I would be happy, basically high 30s or low 40s would be enough for me.

Same. I'm not expecting it to the beat the DBX or AspX. Breaking the 30 LY barrier without engineering is all I'm looking for.
