Chieftain Size and perhaps other specs

I see the chat about weapon sizes etc, and I'm sure to most that is a critical factor, along with shield strength....

But I just like the looks, so just give me a size 5 space for a business class module, and a size 4 for cargo, everything else I'll make work somehow. With it's drop dead looks it'll be my main ship.
:D

well, its the next bigger ship to the DBX from the same manufacturer - what do you expect?
... for one a VERY exceptional Heat efficiency :D

Careful, it's also the next smaller ship to the T-7, from the same manufacturer. ;)

/I mean, if you assume it's medium and so lump it in with the Asps

Who cares what size it is?!

check the other screenshot - the large hatch slides backwards and is then almost horizontal
if the door that i have highlited as "med" would slide upwards, it would look totally different and would not have the sharp bent sides
you can also see details infront of the large pulse that are NOT visible in that frontal screenshot. so the large hardpoint has to be further up and behind of that "black scoop" like structure in the front view.
I'll disagree.

I think you are mistaking that hood seen in the front shot as some form of hatch.

The look of the hardpoints reminds me of the Python's where the door slides to the side.

All I'm seeing, sadly, is that this is gonna be yet another medium ship with crappy hardpoints and absolutely no punch to it. I guess I'll have to stick with my conda while continuing the grind to the Vette, in the hopes they release a ship that will outdo either of the two.

I'm hoping for four medium and two large. I would settle for two large, two medium and two small.

I'm looking forward to the beta and buying and outfitting this with the new engineer system.
I hope for the beta they don't give us fish for engineers, I want to see how long the new process takes start to finish.

If it's four medium and two large, it may actually be a ship worth flying considering it's maneuverability.

I think some are thinking of it as a T10D alternative/replacement rather than considering it as a ship in the general pantheon of craft.

Others are probably trying to speculate on the load-out and other specifications (the main focus of this thread).

Personally, I think we should all just patiently wait for the Beta and then find out the real information in-game rather than building up hype needlessly and potentially over-selling something. :)

for you:

1. is the large Hardpoints hatch, clearly sliding to the back - not visible in the frontal view at all
2. is the edge of the scoop i am talking about
3. is a light that can be seen from both perspectives
4. is a black detail that can be seen from both perspectives
5. is a detail that can NOT be seen in the frontal view, so it must be behind the edge of 2.
6. is a detail that can again be seen from both perspectives.

comparing two perspectives should be my forte or i should quit what i am earn my money with...

Label it a heavy combat ship 1c3 2c2 1c1 is pathetic i hope there is more. i would like to see maybe 1 C4 2 or 3 C3 and 2 c2 that is closer to this heavy combat ship label they hit it with, I'm not expecting great jump range its a combat ship. Cervani you can't expect the same level or better performance from a medium ship compared to the big 3.

Awesome, I'll have my Chieftain all ready to go for the Distant Worlds Expedition. I'll have to drag myself away from Naval Action long enough to try it out in the beta. :)

I think the Chieftan will have more utilities than a FAS, as possibly a few more mediums- so a x 2 large / x 4 medium and possibly x 6 utils (but 4 util slots are visible on the engine pods).

Perhaps all the medium ships combine Transformers style? Maybe in the end multicrew is a giant robot?

If it has that and it's the the most agile medium ship, then FDL might actually have some competition.

the FAS already has a higher agility then the FDL,

so the Chieftain will place somewhere around 160 Agility rating (between Asp explorer and Asp Scout).
they didn't mention speed anywhere, so i guess its similar to the Scout when it comes to that (same manufacturer)

i cannot see it anywhere around python when it comes to either Hardpoints or Internals.
they would really need to slap a C4 slot under the belly to be in the FDL/Python region.
for python internals, it would need some of those magic slots where you can fill out the whole hull with cargo without losing ANY armor (Python/Conda)

and lakon ships are usually VERY inefficent when it comes to internal space usage (looking at you T7 and T9)
